Mesquite Elementary

Week of April 21, 2025
Notes from Norburg
Dear Mesquite Elementary Families,
As we wrap up AASA testing this week I would like to highlight our two campus testing coordinators. Ms. Guhy, our instructional coach, and Mrs. Pardy, our PE teacher, who work together to organize, support, and oversee AASA testing. This is no easy task and requires Ms. Guhy and Mrs. Pardy to be knowledgeable about testing procedures and policies as well as extremely organized to make sure testing runs smoothly. Mrs. Guhy and Mrs. Pardy have done this flawlessly this year and we are thankful for their leadership. In addition to this, I would like to thank all staff on our campus this week who truly went above and beyond to make sure testing ran smoothly in each classroom. This requires a great deal of preparation and hard work on the part of each staff member from paraprofessionals to monitor hallways to teachers preparing to administer AASA by covering up materials in their rooms, taking testing trainings, and more. The data gathered from standardized assessments allow us to reflect on our instruction and to develop targeted professional development opportunities for our campus!
I would also like to thank our families for working to make sure students were in attendance and on time each day! We truly appreciate families that communicated with us early on about students that would not be in attendance so that we can plan accordingly. Mesquite Families are the best!
Enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year is currently open! We will host a kindergarten open house on Thursday, May 1st from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. prior to Evening of the Arts which will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
As you start thinking about junior highs for next year, please know that we feed into Greenfield Junior High School, South Valley Junior High School, and students have the option to apply to Gilbert Accelerated Middle School at Gilbert High School, Gilbert Classical Academy, and/or Gilbert, Talented, and Creative Program at Highland Junior High School. For more campus information, please visit GilbertSchools.net/LevelUp.
Sincerely,
Wendy Norburg

Hello Mesquite Families!
We are running very low on snacks! If you are able to, we would love any unopened snack items! Ideas include: cheez-its, gold fish, chewy bars, fruit snacks, veggie straws, crackers etc. It is also starting to get hot, so we would happily take any water bottle donations! Thank you so much!
