A Note from Mrs. Pitts

Dear RES Families,

We wanted to provide you with a facilities update, mostly to give the well deserved accolades to our facilities team, Brian Helfrich ,SAU 50 Facilities DIrector and Jim Gordon, Rye Facilities Manager. On a side note, this week was Custodian Appreciation Day and we are SO thankful for our team!!!

  • If you haven’t seen it, we finally have a new bridge to the Riptide Reserve. No more muddy shoes and jumping over swamp puddles! Jim Gordon custom built it just for our kids and staff! Truly above and beyond the call of duty. Thanks, Jim!
  • We are also about 50% complete with the new RES solar array installed by Revision Energy. This has been 3 years or longer in the making. It is a money saver and will help the environment. We hope to show our students the importance of viable green energy options. After the install, we will get an app and can monitor the progress like we do at RJH! Here are some fascinating money and environmental saving statistics:
      1. 205,000 kilowatt hours of clean energy from 383 panels in year 1
      2. $340,000 net savings over 25 years
      3. Annual CO2 reduction 201,000 lbs
  • We also had air conditioning installed and it helped with the prolonged warmer weather! We are working on installing more units to cover the whole school

Warmly,

Michelle Pitts (Brian Helfrich)

Bullying Policy Bullying Policy

zoom_out_map

School communities across the globe are recognizing World Bullying Prevention Month this October. RES joins in this prevention, and we seek to keep the conversation going every day even after October has come and gone. We are always grateful for the support and cooperation from our RES families, because celebrating the good and building a culture of acceptance and kindness is a team effort!

We will bring the whole school community together for assembly time with Mrs. Pitts and Mrs. Arsenault to address Bullying Prevention and empower our students to engage in change. During this school conversation, we will define bullying behavior and identify the various roles students and staff can take if they witness bullying. We will focus on upstanders in our effort to empower our community to speak up and support one another.

At RES, we take our role as educators and supporters of every student very seriously. We care deeply about the opportunities we have to help our students grow to their full potential. The administrators and school board that lead our district in excellence also take this seriously. Our school board approves and reviews (annually) our Student Safety & Violence Protection policy. Within this policy, the expectation is set for school leaders and educators to create educational opportunities that inspire bullying prevention. We are also required to provide tools for students, family and staff to report bullying behavior and seek support. Please use our STAND UP! SPEAK UP! form to report any incidence of bullying that you may witness. Every incident will be investigated following the guidelines set forth in our Student Safety & Violence Prevention policy.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Michelle Pitts, RES Principal or Lori Arsenault, RES School Counselor.

Families at Lunch Families at Lunch

We have had some inquiries about adults having lunch in our cafeteria with the students. We will let everyone know when this will begin. We have a new lunch program, as well as two fairly full lunch periods in regards to seating. We love having our families in but want to put our students first in ensuring we have all of our processes and expectations solid to ensure enough eating time where this can occur seamlessly.

Preschool Child Find Preschool Child Find

As part of the CHILD FIND services, the school districts of SAU 50 offer a free developmental
screening for all preschool children residing in the towns of Greenland, New Castle,
Newington, and Rye. This screening is available to children between three and five years of
age and is designed to identify preschoolers with special needs that may result in an
educational disability as defined by the New Hampshire Rules for the Education of Children
with Disabilities.

Children's Museum in Dover, NH Children's Museum in Dover, NH

Hola from the world language classroom! To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, RES fourth graders in Señora Piper's class created Spanish signs for The Children's Museum of New Hampshire in Dover. The signs are absolutely beautiful and are currently on display in the museum. If you are looking for something fun to do as a family, please take a visit to the museum and check out their awesome work! ¡Buen trabajo!
