RMHS Student & Family Newsletter
June 21st, 2026
To the RMHS Community,
I would like to wish all students and families a wonderful summer! This is the final newsletter for the 2025-26 academic year. Congratulations to students for wrapping up a successful year and I hope this summer brings new opportunities and adventures.
I will send a newsletter out near the beginning of August that encapsulates information about fall tryouts for athletics and activities and information about the start of school. Report cards for Q4 and the 2025-26 academic year will be posted in student portals by June 25th. There will be a time when portals will be closed this summer while schedules for students are finalized and the school year is rolled over to 2026-27. An email will be sent reminding everyone of this closure in case you need to pull any documents off of the portal prior to that date.
Student schedules are shared in the beginning of July. These include a list of assigned courses, but not the teacher names or class periods. When this information is shared there will be instructions included about how and when to contact school counselors if there are any issues with course assignments. August 25th is reserved as Course Correction Day (formerly Arena Day) for any students that still have outstanding issues with schedules. Most schedule issues are resolved prior to this date, but if not, students will be invited for an appointment with their school counseling on the 25th. Please note that contractually school counselors work a handful of days over the summer. If you email your school counselor and do not hear back immediately this is why. They will respond when they are in the office. Ms. Haley, the school counseling administrative assistant, works on Tuesdays throughout the summer. She is the point of contact for questions regarding transcripts and working papers. Her email is julie.haley@reading.k12.ma.us.
The administrative team and administrative assistants in the athletics and main office also work over the summer. I would ask that if you need assistance please call or email prior to stopping by as we also take vacation time over the summer months, and I want to ensure someone is present to help if you need assistance.
The link for summer AP assignments is listed below. Other keys information or dates over the summer include:
August:
- 10 & 11: Senior Photos (Guidance suite)
- 20: Ambassador Training for Freshmen orientation on-line @10am
- 19-31 Lap Top pick up for students (will also be able to pick up the first days of school, but summer is preferred to reduce interruptions to instruction.)
- 24: Ambassador Training for Freshmen orientation on-line @3pm
- 24: Fall Sports Tryouts Begin
- 25: Course Correction Day (Formerly Arena)
- 26: Freshman Orientation (8-12) - incoming freshmen and Rocket Ambassadors - by appointment
If you are a student and need your laptop over the summer, you can email help.desk@reading.k12.ma.us and schedule a time to pick up the laptop. If you have not turned in your laptop to be updated, please bring it in on June 22 to the IT office. Also, if you are a student and did not clean out your locker, please come and do so on June 22. All lockers are cleaned over the summer, and contents are discarded or donated.
RMHS did move to a new photographer starting in the 2026-27 school year. We are happy to announce that we will partner with O'Connor Studios. Senior yearbook portraits need to be taken by the school photographer. There is no fee for a sitting only if a package is ordered. Appointment information will be emailed to seniors and senior parents. There will be some appointments at RMHS and also availability to schedule at their studio in Tewksbury throughout the summer.
RMHS is seeking 2-3 new parents to be members of the School Council. The School Council is a governing body at the school level that all public schools are required to have by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Typically, the School Council meets once a month from 4:15 - 5:15 pm and oversees updates to the RMHS Student Handbook, school policies, budget, etc. If you are a parent and are interested in serving on the School Council, please email me directly at jessica.callanan@reading.k12.ma.us.
Happy Father's Day to all the fathers and father figures out there. I hope you enjoy your day!
Sincerely,
Principal Callanan

Summer AP Assignments
If you are a student that signed up for an AP course, please note that summer assignments are listed on the RMHS website through the "helpful links" tab at the bottom of the main page. The link is also located here: LINK
As teachers provide the administration with assignments, they will be also added to this link.
Student schedules are not shared until the summer, but students that signed up for AP courses will have them in your schedule for next year unless your guidance counselor shares otherwise.
