Weekly Updates
Parking Lot Safety
Parking lot safety is a point of emphasis as we start the new school year. We clarified expectations for students about parking lot safety last week, and we would like to share with parents as well so that you can help model safe behavior for all of our learners. This includes:
- Using the crosswalk to safely move between the school and parking lot.
- Students should only enter cars in the pickup lane in the portion of that lane that runs parallel to the south side of the school.
- Students should walk calmly in all spaces outside.
- Parents should drive slowly in the parking lot.
Timely Student Pick-ups
Please be ready to pick up your Options student(s) at 4:00pm each Monday or Friday. Our staff are only on contract until 4:15pm, so your timely arrival to pick up students is very appreciated by our staff and allows them to return home to their families on time.
Curriculum Directory
As our program has finally exhausted the remaining items that were left in our curriculum library, we are creating a new directory for families to be able to offer curriculum that is no longer needed, or to request curriculum that is needed. We hope that this becomes a useful resource in our community. Please visit this form to learn more about the directory. Stay tuned for a directory link once some curriculum materials are offered or requested within our community.
Student Directory
The PSD Options Student Directory has been reset for the 2026-2027 school year. The directory link was sent in an email since this update is posted on a public website. If you would like to be included in the directory, please complete this form, and any information that you share will be added to the directory. The directory is optional and only for use within the PSD Options community. Thank you for supporting ways for students to be connected!

ECO Experience Date Change - Applies to 5th graders only
Unfortunately, the district has asked us to change the date of Eco Experience because our communicated dates of Sept 21-22 concur with Yom Kippur. We were able to get a new date from CSU Mountain Campus of Sept 8-9 which is the Tuesday after Labor Day. We are thankful that we still get to go. We wanted to communicate the date change as soon as possible.
There will be two challenges around these new dates. Paperwork and payment will have a very short turn around once school starts. At this point, we believe we found a grant for the bus...tentatively $115 will be the cost. Medical paperwork is another item that would need to be addressed quickly. Melissa Martine will reach out in early August to share the paperwork for prescriptions. Medical offices frequently need 2-3 weeks to fill out this paperwork, and we will need it returned by Sept 1.
We are looking forward to spending this special time with your child up in the mountains!
Reminders
School Meals: PSD Options students are not eligible for free breakfast or lunch despite the passage of the Colorado Healthy School Meals for All ballot issue. The costs are $2.75 for breakfast and $5.25 for lunch. Payment can be made via SchoolPay.
Building Map: To help your child know where to go at drop-off, here is a map that shows the main entrance and crosswalk. All students will enter through the main entrance and proceed to the gym for breakfast or to their classrooms.
Pick-up & Drop-off: Review this document before dropping off or picking up your child. Our school day ends at 4:00pm and you should arrive to pick up your student no later than 4:15pm. If an unusual circumstance arises that may delay your pick-up, please call the school at 970.488.4600 to give us notice. Our staff do finish their workday at 4:15pm, so timely pick-up is appreciated.
Absences: Absences can be submitted in ParentVue, or you may call our attendance line at 970.488.4601 to let us know! Please keep in mind that since Options is an enrichment program, we tend to be more flexible on attendance.
Attendance letters: If you have received a letter or notification about your child’s attendance at PSD Options this year, those messages were sent in error. The district has shifted to an automated process for sending these letters electronically, and with our program only meeting once a week it is easier for students to reach the threshold upon which the letter is sent. We are trying to work with the district to turn this automation off for PSD Options, but if you have already received a letter or if you receive one in the future, please know that it was unintended and sent in error. Thanks for your understanding!
