Hello and happy Friday!

We made it to February vacation! Thank you to everyone for scrambling to accommodate the early dismissal today. I hope you are able to navigate the snow storm okay and it doesn't disrupt your weekend plans too much.

It was a nice week here at school, although illness continues to hit a number of students and staff. Please take time this week to rest and get healthy. We hope everyone will be back and feeling good when we return on March 2nd.

Town Meetings are an important way to stay involved in the community and school happenings. Salisbury's Town Meeting is Saturday, 2/28 starting at 3:00PM at the Salisbury School. Ripton's Town Meeting is Monday, 3/2 starting at 7:00PM at the Ripton Community House. Voting for the ACSD school budget as well as local elections (including school board members) will take place on Tuesday the 3rd. Please see the district's website for information about the coming year's budget development process and the proposed budget under School Board, Budget Development: https://www.acsdvt.org/district-link/budget-development.

The 26-27 District Calendar is available now, as well. It is linked below. It's hard to believe the year is more than half over! I'm so grateful for the past few months getting to know the students, staff and families at SCS. I look forward to the months ahead as we continue to do all we can to serve students in so many ways.

Thanks for reading and have a wonderful vacation,

Tracey

The SCS, WES and SES combined band and chorus put on a wonderful concert Tuesday night. Students have been working hard all year to learn music on their instruments and sing songs. Well done!

The 4th grade had a very successful Heritage Festival yesterday. Students and parents came together to share special food and traditions from their family ancestry. Ms. Clapp writes: From Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico and Germany to Australia, Italy, England, The Netherlands, Canada.....all of our plates were full! It was so fun to hear about the family stories, to spend the afternoon together, and celebrate all of our immigration stories. I feel so lucky to be part of your family this year.

We are excited to announce the district has allocated Title funds for an after school science club at SCS led by a local science teacher.

Description: This is a club for anyone who likes to design, build, and explore. We’ll have a different science activity each week that will spark curiosity! Older students will work with design engineering challenges and explorations such as building a geodesic dome, making and launching hot air balloons, or identifying skulls from special features. Younger students will explore the chemistry of a non Newtonian fluid (GAK), color and light, and rollercoaster design. Activities are aligned with NGSS.
