Chaparral Choir Earns Spot on One of Texas’ Biggest Stages
One of only six choirs statewide selected to perform at TMEA
Chaparral High School’s tenor-bass choir has been selected to perform at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention — one of the most prestigious stages for student musicians in the state. Thousands of educators attend each year, and only a select number of groups are invited to perform. Representing Killeen ISD on this stage is a tremendous honor and a testament to the talent and dedication of these students and their directors.
Texas Educators Visit KISD to See Model Structured Literacy in Action
Killeen ISD welcomed 60 educators from four districts to Clifton Park Elementary earlier this week to observe our model structured literacy instruction in action. As one of only nine districts selected for the Texas Reads, Texas Leads grant, KISD classrooms are now serving as demonstration sites for early reading practices aligned to the science of teaching reading. The two-year grant strengthens instruction across all 31 elementary campuses, with a clear goal: every student reading on grade level by fourth grade.
Five Proven Leaders Will Step Into Key Roles to Strengthen KISD Schools
Starting next school year, KISD principals will have more direct support as five proven leaders step into Executive Director roles. These leaders bring a strong track record of improving academic outcomes, strengthening instructional systems, and building campus cultures focused on growth and success for all students. The appointments are part of an updated school leadership structure designed to provide more direct, consistent support to campuses.

100 Days In: Big Growth, Big Grins
Students across Killeen ISD celebrated the 100th day of school with creativity, costumes, and plenty of smiles. From “100-year-old” outfits to classroom activities focused on counting and place value, the day highlighted both fun and academic growth. It’s one more reminder of how far our students have come this year.
