PTO SPONSORING THE FOLLOWING EVENT, MORE TO COME WHEN WE RETURN!
National Teacher Appreciation Week is May 5 - 9, 2025. The Michigan Department of Education’s (MDE) Office of Educator Excellence wishes to celebrate teachers across Michigan for the entire month of May, and it needs the help of Crestwood students and families.
MDE invites parents to submit 15-30 second videos of their students recognizing and thanking a specific teacher for their impact. Cell phones easily capture videos. Please follow the directions on the flyer. Videos and parental consent must be submitted via the Teacher Appreciation Video Project Google Form. Videos are currently being accepted until Friday, April 16, 2025.
Submitted videos may be posted on the Teacher Appreciation Month webpage and MDE’s YouTube channel. The Office of Educator Excellence’s Facebook (@MIeducator) and X (formerly Twitter) social media pages will be promoting the videos throughout the month of May. If your child has great things to say about a teacher, use the instructions found on MDE’s website to submit a video today.
PARKING LOT MATTERS!
PLEASE REVIEW SOME REMINDERS REGARDING OUR SCHOOL PARKING LOT:
- Please do not park in the handicap spots if you do not have a handicap sticker! The police do periodical runs around our school and they will ticket you.
- Do not park in the driveway of the neighborhood homes. You could also receive a ticket if you do this.
- Please do not block the school driveway in front of the dumpsters! Signs have been posted up for that.
- Do not speed through our car-line or our lot at ANY time! Patience is a virtue, we need to help each other and drive safely in front of the school, especially when students are being picked-up or dropped-off!
- The pot-holes on Drexel Street will be fixed hopefully in the next few days. We were waiting on the weather to warm up!
- Please be cautious when parking your vehicle. Monitor yourself when leaving out of your vehicle. There have been many complaints of scratched vehicles and that is unacceptable!
- If you see someone not following the rules or law feel free to report them to the police. Lately the school office has received many complaints and we continuously address those effected by the situation or report them to the police. We need to all follow the rules/laws when picking-up and dropping-off our students. Our school has a tight parking lot and it will be updated within the bond but that will take time, so we need all to cooperate! Thank you!

Your Presence Matters--10 Days of Absence or Less for Success
The new school year is upon us and we are excited! The new year brings lots of opportunities for our students and their families. This year, we're placing a special emphasis on the power of consistent attendance. Why? Because we believe in unlocking every student's full potential, and that starts with being present. As a district, we will monitor attendance and notify parents/guardians on a consistent basis when students are absent.
Key benefits of daily attendance:
Stress reduction
Stronger connections with peers and teachers
Enhanced learning experiences
Let's work together to make daily school attendance a habit. Your child's success starts with showing up.
REMINDER:
Dear Hillcrest Family,
As the weather gets colder, we want to remind you of the importance of following our car-line protocol to ensure the safety of all our students. It has come to our attention that some vehicles are stopping in the middle of the parking lot and allowing students to exit, which poses a potential safety hazard.
We kindly ask that you continue to move up towards the yellow poles or near a staff member at the front of the school when dropping off or picking up your child. By doing so, you are helping us maintain an organized and efficient system that prioritizes the safety of all students.
We appreciate your cooperation with this protocol and your continued support in keeping our school a safe environment for everyone. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns regarding the car-line procedure. I am attaching the car-line map as a reminder.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Best regards,
Mrs. Saad
Reminder of drop-off routine:
- Breakfast will start at 8:15-8:30a.m. in the cafeteria; students cannot leave the gym before 8:30am
- Students will be dismissed from the gym at 8:25 to line up by their classroom door
- If you are in car-line follow the map below, you are not to park in the parking lot due to limited parking for staff. Please drive up in the car-line; arrows on the map below direct you. The car-line needs to flow so PLEASE stay in the vehicle if you are in the car-line!

BREAKFAST AND LUNCH MENUS:
PLEASE REMIND YOUR CHILD REGARDING--Restroom Etiquette at Hillcrest:
This was a major problem last week and its a reminder for ALL Young 5's/Kindergarten-Fourth Grade students!
Hello Husky Family,
We at Hillcrest have been working hard to help our huskies grow into responsible and respectful individuals. I will be visiting your child's class at the beginning of the school year, regarding how to utilize all areas of the building as it is not one individual utilizing the building but all staff and students as a whole. We kindly ask that you speak with your child regarding proper restroom etiquette. In order to continue maintaining restrooms in a sanitary condition, we would appreciate your support with this matter. As we get closer to colder temperatures let's work together to keep germs away. There will be consequences for those who intentionally misuse their restroom privileges. Thank you!--Principal Saad
Medication information from Nurse Mrs. Berry:
As we get back into the swing of things, I want to remind parents that students who need medications during school hours must have documentation on file that is signed by a physician. You can find all health related documents on the CSD website and I have linked some of them below. If your child has a health condition that I need to be aware of, please email me so I can update MiStar with the pertinent information. Let's have a safe and healthy school year!
