Rod's Random Thoughts
Happy Monday Hornets!
I hope you all had a great weekend and that your plans are coming together for the Thanksgiving Break. I am looking forward to hanging out with family, watching some football, and getting into the holiday mood.
We have a short week this week, but we will make up for it next week when we head into December. This afternoon we have a session of fall conferences followed by our Beyond the Hive event from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. You can find more details below. We plan for it to be a relaxed evening where we can enjoy a meal, learn together, and help our students plan with confidence for their futures.
When we return from break we will be introducing a new Academic Support schedule. We heard from students and staff that our students need a weekly Academic Support period so that they can make up tests, get extra help, and see teachers when necessary. Based on this feedback we hove modified our schedule so that every Monday is now has academic support time at then end of second period.
The schedule is detailed below.
Reminder that we are on early release schedule for the rest of the week.
That’s all for now. Let’s make it a great week.

Beyond the Hive: Monday, November 24 | 4:00–7:00 PM at Enumclaw High School
Join us for an evening designed for Hornet families to learn, connect, and plan for life after high school!
During the drop in conference sessions with teachers, enjoy a free dinner in the Commons beginning at 5pm, and explore a variety of sessions for students in grades 9–12 — including topics like financial aid and scholarships, supporting struggling students, senior timelines, resume writing, and college applications.
You’ll also find resource tables for school supplies, tutoring, community supports, the Career Center, and the Counselor Corner. Childcare will be provided by the Thrive Club, and the Winter Sports Parent Meeting will follow at 7:00 PM.
Come for dinner, stay for great conversations, and leave with tools to help your student thrive beyond the hive!
Academic Focus Schedule
Enumclaw High School’s Academic Focus time is designed to provide students with dedicated time and support to strengthen their academic success. Academic Focus days will be every Monday and designated days through out the year. The schedule includes a 30-minute focus period where students can connect with teachers for additional help, make up missed tests or projects, catch up on assignments, or spend extra time studying. The goal is to ensure that every student has the opportunity to stay on track, reinforce learning, and take responsibility for their progress in a supportive environment.
Field Trip to the National Congress of American Indians in Seattle
A special shout out to Lucila Lopez, Yvette Brown, T'Ann Daniels, Teuila Atimalala , JaydeLouise Atimala , and Keinonaa Courville for participating in the National Congress of American Indians Conference in Seattle last Tuesday and Wednesday.
The National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) Conference in Seattle brought together tribal leaders, policymakers, educators, and community advocates from across the country to engage in meaningful dialogue about sovereignty, governance, and the future of Native nations. The conference featured speakers, collaborative workshops, and opportunities to share best practices that strengthen tribal communities. The students also toured The Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center in Seattle. The center is a major hub for Native American community and culture, run by the United Indians of All Tribes Foundation.
