From Your RVA Principal

It’s a great day at RVA!!!

We have a lot of exciting events and activities coming up this month and we hope you will join us for the fun!!!

That said, I am pleased to share our Annual Zoo Field Trip (previously shared in the RVA Family Tree Google Classroom) finalized details and to remind you that if your scholar will be attending this school wide trip, please fill out the google permission slip below and purchase their ticket by the end of the day today, April 15th. Tickets are available at a discount to RVA students at $10.60. Flyer provided with information about how to pay via our OSP website. Note: if you attended the trip last year, you may already have an OSP account, if not you may need to create a new account. Family members that would also like to attend must purchased tickets directly from the Richmond Metro Zoo on their website or at the gate per district policy. Families must provide their own transportation and scholars must bring their own lunches to enjoy during the trip. Please review the attached field trip permission form for all details. As a reminder, homebound students require permission from their attending physician and the district to attend field trips and in person activities. We do hope to see all of our OWL's and their families as we have a wonderful day exploring the Richmond Metro Zoo.

Also, if you have a scholar in Grades K, 2, 5, 7, and/or 10, please come out to the RVA Office on Thursday, April 18th for our annual hearing and vision screening. This is a free opportunity for your child's hearing and vision to be tested and in some cases, glasses may be provided to scholars as well. The event will take place at our school's location within Thomas Henderson Middle School (Room 211). See you there!!!

RVA Has Moved to Thomas Henderson Middle School!

As shared in last week's newsletter and via Remind, the RVA Office has recently moved to Thomas Henderson Middle School!! We are truly excited to have the increase in space for our RVA Owls and Owl Families:). As you come to the Henderson for RVA Office Hours, please remember to report to Door 1 to check in at the Henderson's main office, and they will call an RVA staff member to come greet and assist you. Please remember to check the Remind app or your text messages for any critical updates we may have to share regarding Office Hours.

We will also use this location as our testing site for our upcoming SOL tests. As a reminder, on test days, scholars should be dropped off at Door 5 in the mornings (near the bus loop). They will be greeted by an RVA Staff Member who will ensure they are offered breakfast and are escorted to our testing location. Pick up for students are also at Door 5 as well on testing days.

Please drop by anytime...we are always happy to help:). Hoot Hoot!!
