Please help us find a Twitter handle
The Burgettstown Area School District is looking to increase its social media footprint. We want to create a school district Twitter account. Please consider helping us by suggesting a Twitter handle. For those who do not know, a twitter handle is like a name and it is used for individual Twitter accounts. Local examples that we often see are: @Steelers or @KDKA Within the school district, the elementary center uses @BAECinAction We need your help to think of something catchy and unique. Please click HERE or on the button below to provide a suggestion or suggestions. Thank you!

In-Person Open House Scheduled
Next week, we will welcome the return of in-person open house! The building principals are sending out more information, but this is a reminder that the grades K-2 open house is on Tuesday evening, the MS/HS open house is on Wednesday evening, and the grades 3-5 open house is on Thursday. A few things to consider to keep everyone safe and healthy:
- Please remember to wear a mask or face shield. These items must be worn to enter the school buildings. If you are unable to be masked, please contact your child's teacher(s) to establish another way to communicate at a separate time
- Please limit the number of people coming to open house to immediate family members, preferably only parent/guardian and child. We recognize that this may not always be possible because of young children where no childcare is available
- Please, please, please do not come to open house if you are feeling ill or have what may be the onset of symptoms, and absolutely do not come if you or someone in your house is Covid positive.
- Please respect social distancing limitations. Our ability to remain in school relies, in part, on our teachers' ability to stay healthy. Our teachers enjoy interacting with parents and guardians, but do have barriers in place in some instances within the classroom. Please do not be offended if such a barrier exists in your child's classroom(s)
- Both school principals have designed the evenings in such a way as to limit the times when folks may visit. Please do your best to respect the timeframe that has been identified for your child's teacher and/or school
- Please use your time efficiently. We recognize that Open House is also a social time, and that you may see friends or relatives in the hallways or classrooms. We kindly ask that you do not loiter. It pains us to have to say this, but again, we want to keep everyone healthy and safe.
- Please contact your child's principal or teacher if you have any concerns about attending open house.
Thank you, in advance, for doing your part to keep everyone healthy and safe!

Concern/Communication Chain
We can only get better if you help us! Of course it is always nice to hear when we do something you like, but we also want to hear when you have a concern. It is easy to post things on a personal or community social media account, looking for answers or just criticizing, but that rarely solves the problem. Burgettstown is a proud community, and part of that is because people are proud of the school district and its schools. However, we make mistakes too, and are not ashamed to admit it. Just as we expect our students to learn and to correct their mistakes, we strive to do the same thing. So, in an effort to help you find the right person to communicate with when you have a concern (and also to reach out when we do something right), we ask that you follow our Concern/Communication Chain. This chain is made in such a way that it directs you to the most appropriate person or department, depending upon the level of your concern. For example, if you have a problem with something in one of your child's classes, start at Level 1, the teacher. If you are not satisfied, go up to Level 2 and contact the principal. Etc. Etc. Similarly, if you have a concern with something in the area of attendance and you have spoken with the Level 1 person, the Attendance Secretary, and then you spoke with the Level 2 person, the principal, and are still not satisfied, contact the Level 3 person, the Assistant to the Superintendent. Everyone, from the secretaries to the school board members want what you want: for Burgettstown Area to be the best it can possibly be. Help us help you in the most efficient way possible by communicating with the appropriate person at the appropriate time. Thank you, in advance, for using the Concern/Communication Chain to convey your message.
