NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Award NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Award

The NCWIT Aspirations in Computing (AiC) High School Award honors 9th - 12th grade women, genderqueer, and non-binary students for their computing-related achievements and interests, and encourages them to pursue their passions. Award recipients are selected based on their aptitude and aspirations in technology and computing, as demonstrated by their computing experience, computing-related activities, leadership experience, tenacity in the face of barriers to access, and future plans. Since 2007, more than 25,000 students have received an AiC Award.

The multi-tiered award structure includes Winner, Honorable Mention, and Rising Star designations at National and Regional Affiliate levels, serving all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, all U.S. overseas military bases, and Canada. Regional Affiliate Award programs are hosted in 79 locations nationwide by NCWIT Alliance member organizations—a powerful, national network of universities, companies, non-profits, and government organizations working to increase the influence and meaningful participation of girls and women from every community.

The NCWIT AiC High School Award is sponsored by Apple, Bank of America, Jane Street, and Microsoft.

Code.org App Lab Hour of Code

Submissions are due October 24, 2024

For more information go here

Every year we challenge students in our districts to create and submit their original apps for a chance to win the Congressional App Challenge (CAC). Each challenge is district-specific. As U.S. Representatives we publicly recognize our winning teams and each winning app may be put on display in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year. Additional prizes may be available. The Congressional Internet Caucus initiates the annual CAC. We have appointed the non-profit Internet Education Foundation to provide the CAC with supplemental staffing and support.

The Congressional App Challenge’s mission is to inspire, include, and innovate efforts around STEM, coding, and computer science education.

  • Manufacturing Engineering

Other rotations include building skills in communication and presentation giving, as well as providing opportunities for students to attend networking events with engineers at BAE Systems to encourage insight into the industry.

This program typically runs in the spring semester of each year. For more information about BAE Systems WiT program go here
