MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS

Dear Eagles,

We value our commitment to support students as they master concepts and skills. Our teachers allow students to submit retakes and revisions as an extension of that support. Retakes and revisions are intended to help students learn from mistakes and deepen their understanding, but it's important to use them strategically. While retakes and revisions are valuable opportunities for growth, they do not take the place of proper preparation before initial assessments.

It has come to my attention that there are students in every grade level who are missing the purpose of retakes and revisions. Eagles, I encourage you to carefully review feedback from initial attempts to identify specific areas for improvement. More specifically, focus on addressing the areas for growth identified in the feedback, rather than simply repeating the same process. In addition to reviewing feedback, take time to reflect on your learning process. Ask yourself what you can do differently to improve your understanding and performance. I recommend using available resources, asking questions, and seeing help when needed. If you're struggling with a concept, study and schedule a flex session for additional support before requesting a retake.

We maintain our commitment to providing our Eagles with the support they need to succeed. We encourage open communication between students, parents, and teachers to ensure that retakes and revisions are used effectively. Let's work together to continue fostering a learning environment that promotes deep understanding, responsible learning habits, and a genuine passion for growth and development.

Onward and upward,

~Principal Banks

Student Spotlight

Congratulations to our JV Robotics Team! The Lindblom Gold Eagles competed at the IL state competition. The team finished rank 7 in their division and competed in the playoffs(elimination rounds) with the #5 Alliance. They Lost to the #1 alliance that proceeded to win the state championship. They were also awarded the 2nd place CONNECT AWARD at the state level. The Connect Award Description is as follows: Connecting the dots between community, FIRST, and the diversity of the engineering world. This judged award is given to the team that most connects with their local science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) community. A true FIRST team is more than a sum of its parts and recognizes that engaging their local STEM community plays an essential part in their success. The recipient of this award is recognized for helping the community understand FIRST, the FIRST Tech Challenge, and the team itself.

High Fives to Lindblom's Model UN Team! They gave speeches and worked on resolutions with students from other schools. Model UN student leader Tania received a verbal commendation for her speeches. Overall, our students received lots of praise from the organizers for their preparation, engagement, and professionalism.

Kudos to moderators:Addison Belhomme, Joshua Passmore and LTAs Da’shawna Graham, and Samiya Wilson! The "Cinema, TV, and Theater Days" was a success because students moderated a panel with entertainment industry professionals and had great audience engagement.
