Bernice Young Elementary School Week of 10/19
- We are extending our candy drive for one more day!!! Bring any candy for the SPD Halloween Fest and then plan to attend the event.
- The Book Fair will be continued through Wednesday, October 21.
- Kinder, First, and Second grades will start their fall ATLAS Interim testing soon! Students will take literacy and math interims. You can log in and see their scores using the ATLAS parent portal code that you received during conferences. (Please allow a few days for the scores to be published in the portal). Interims test all of the grade level standards so students will be presented with information they have not mastered yet. Testing dates: 1st grade: 10/22 and 10/23, Kinder: 10/26 and 10/27, and 2nd: 11/3 and 11/5
- Running club finished for K-5! Thanks to our staff that coached our students. We had a great time running! If you signed up for the Mini Wild Dog Races, more information below.

- The Color Run will be here before we know it! Our Color Run is set for October 30th. Students will be bringing home fundraising information next week.
Color Run and Class Parties
We will have our Color Run and Class Parties on October 30th. Grade levels will alternate throughout the day. All visitors are scanned through the raptor system when visiting our school. If you would like to attend The Color Run or the class party, please complete this form so that we can have your visitor sticker ready for you. If you have never had your ID scanned in the office, stop by and have it scanned before October 30th. Thanks you.
Flu shot paperwork came home this week. Flu shots are optional and will be on October 26th. Please fill out all required parts of the form if you are interested in your child receiving a flu shot at school. Return the forms to the office (or teacher).

Sorry that the weather has changed the plans so many times. Here is the updated schedule.
10/21: George Junior High location
10/28: Har-Ber...fun run with shortened distances and we encourage costumes
11/11: George...City Championship...combined races (k-1 boys and girls same time, etc).

We are excited to offer families the opportunity to celebrate their child’s birthday by displaying a Happy Birthday on our outdoor digital sign! Order now so you don't forget!
The happy birthday will be displayed during your child’s birthday week for $10. Complete the digital form AND then pay and the Happy Birthday message will be displayed.
The earlier, the better! Sign up now and we'll have your child's name on the calendar & their Happy Birthday message ready to go.
We are not here over long breaks or on the weekend. Please enter birthdays in advance if you want them displayed on your child's special day.
Please note: Birthday treats may NOT be brought to school to share with classmates. We invite families to celebrate their child with a birthday message on our outdoor digital sign instead!
