Alternate Schedule on Thursday

We will be watching the HBHS Homecoming Parade on Thursday. This will mean an alternate schedule in the morning. Please avoid checkouts between 9:30-11am.

Keep'em talkin'!!

Do you ever ask your child about his/her day and you get a shoulder shrug? or "it was fine"? If this is the case, use these questions to ask your child about school - let's get them talking!

History 6 - How are Egypt's river and Mesopotamia's rivers similar?

History 7 - What were the motives of the European explorers who came to the New World.

ELA 7- Based on what we have read so far in class, what is a possible theme of Freak the Mighty?

Acc. Math 7 - What are integers & how does absolute value relate to integer addition?

Language Lab 7 - What was your compare/contrast theme project this week? What did you make? What did our partner make?

Science 7 - Can you share an example of a physical and chemical change. What is the difference between the two changes?

Science 6 - Name the two main forms of energy.

Art 6 - Can you show me your Google Classroom or Home Access Center to check if you have any missing assignments or incomplete work in your art class? If they are incomplete, how do you plan to catch up on them?

Adv. Art 7 - Tell me about your approach to recreating the large-scale pop art package. How are you matching colors, fonts, and imagery to make it stand out?

Health 6 - Explain how alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs negatively affect your body and mind.

Keycode 6/7 - Describe what touch typing is.

Math 6 - Explain the steps to divide fractions by fractions. Demonstrate this by dividing 2/5 by 3/4.

Math 7 - How can you tell if a graph is proportional?

ELA 6 - What are the five parts to identifying text evidence to address a prompt?

Careers 6 - Do you think you will build a budget to manage your money in the future? Why or why not?

Band - Are you completing your daily practice homework? (10-15 minutes of playing the instrument daily is needed to build their muscles)

  • Note: If their tuba/baritone/french horn is not permitted on the bus, we are assigning "home instruments" this week - quantity is limited.

What is Language Lab?

Arkansas English Language Arts (ELA) standards include reading, writing, language, and listening and speaking skills. Language Lab is a semester class for both 6th and 7th graders. The class focuses on the language standards portion of ELA. Students learn grammar, punctuation rules, Greek/Latin roots, and much more, but most importantly they learn how the English language functions in complex text and writing.

Band Car Wash

Sept. 30 - Free Car Wash @Zips!

8am until 1,000 cars are washed for FREE (typically goes until 5pm).

HMS & CJH Band students will be working from 11:30-3pm at the Zips near Har-Ber Meadows. Other Band students from Springdale will be working shifts all day between 3 Zips locations.

Our HMS Band students will kick off this fundraiser on Wednesday, Sept. 13th, by collecting donations to help our current Band students in financial need pay for instruments & supplies so that they can have the opportunity to be a part of the Band. If we are able to, we will purchase more French Horns, Baritones, & Tubas for our students who cannot transport them home on the bus and need one to keep at home for practicing.

Individuals typically donate between $10-20 to a band student. Business donations are usually between $100-$1000 (tax deductible).

The FREE car wash at Zips is our THANK YOU to the Springdale community for supporting the Springdale Bands.
