The Bobcat Bulletin

Welcome back to the 2026–2027 school year!
What a wonderful way to begin the year! It was a pleasure to see so many Bobcat families at Thursday’s Open House. We are looking forward to welcoming students on Monday, August 31, and beginning an exciting 2026–2027 school year together.
For families who were unable to attend, or for anyone who would like a quick refresher, the New Family Presentation shared on Thursday is linked below:
This edition of the Bobcat Bulletin also includes a Homeroom Parent Survey. We welcome family members who are interested in serving as a homeroom parent to complete the form.
It also includes logistics from the PTG about the rescheduled block party which is the kick off to the PTG Bobcat Campaign.
I cannot wait to see everyone tomorrow for the first day of school!
Reminder: Emergency forms are due by Monday, August 31.
Welcome Kindergarteners!
Class of 2028
Our Indian Lane community is excited to welcome our new Bobcats to Kindergarten.
Open House
We are also excited to welcome all of our new students and returning Bobcats to first through fifth grades. We can tell by all the excitement at Open House - It's going to be a great year!
Jason Douglas Griffin Visits First & Second Grades
Book Order Deadline is Friday, September 4th
Exciting news!!! Jason Douglas Griffin, Caldecott honoree, is coming to Indian Lane to share his awesome new book, Be the Acorn, with first and second graders on September 14th. The book is available to order & the author will personalize and sign each book. The deadline to order is September 4th. Thanks for supporting this opportunity for our students. If you have any questions about the order or author visit, please email Mrs. Hatton at thatton@rtmsd.org.
Homeroom Parent Survey
We are seeking two parent or guardian volunteers for each classroom. If more than two individuals volunteer for a class, selections will be made randomly using the Wheel of Names.
Please complete this survey by September 9. Selected Homeroom Parents will be notified by September 11. Following that process, we will share a separate interest form for Class Photographer volunteers.
Thank you for helping us create a wonderful school year for our students, teachers, and families!
Back to School Night- September 8th
Back to School Night is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child’s teachers and learn more about the expectations and learning experiences planned for the new school year. The classroom sessions will begin at 6:00 p.m. and conclude at 7:25 p.m., with two classroom sessions so families with more than one child can visit multiple classrooms.
Families are also invited to attend an optional presentation about our new progress reports. Additional information about the presentation will be included in the next bulletin at the end of this week from Curriculum and Instruction. Homeroom teachers will also share additional Back to School Night details.
BOBCAT CAMPAIGN IS OFFICIALLY UNDERWAY!
A message from ILES PTG:
While Mother Nature put a rain delay on our Bobcat Block Party, she cannot stop the Bobcat spirit! The Block Party will be rescheduled for a future date, so please stay tuned for details. 🎉
It was wonderful to see so many families at Thursday’s Open House. We hope you enjoyed a soft pretzel on us! 🥨💚 The PTG is excited to plan many more fun family events throughout the year.
🚀 Now it is time to launch the Bobcat Campaign! 🚀
Our goal is to raise funds that directly support our students and school, with some exciting incentives along the way!
🔥 First Milestone: $5,000 🔥
When we reach $5,000, Mrs. Britton gets slimed!
When donating through the link, you may change the optional Zeffy tip by selecting “Other” in the dropdown menu and entering $0.
Your support of the Bobcat Campaign helps make school more than just a place to learn. PTG funds provide meaningful student experiences, programs, celebrations, and resources that directly benefit our students and school community. Donations support opportunities such as Field Day, student assemblies, the Fifth Grade Celebration and Musical, and PSSA snacks. They also help fund welcome activities for new families, afterschool family events, FARE workshops, holiday celebrations, and Run the Lane. Your support also helps us celebrate and support our teachers through Teacher Appreciation, Poetry Café, the Art Show, and afterschool clubs. From special activities and enrichment programs to schoolwide celebrations, every contribution helps create the experiences and memories our students will carry with them. Every Bobcat counts, and every dollar helps.
PTG Kickoff Block Party Take 2- September 3rd at 4:30!
This Thursday, September 3, beginning at 4:30 p.m., the PTG will host our Block Party to kick off the Bobcat Campaign! The event will be open-house style, so families are welcome to stop by at any point between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. and stay for as long as their schedules allow.
Although last week’s weather required us to reschedule, the PTG wanted to ensure that this special event could still take place as the kickoff to the Bobcat Campaign.
The PTG recognizes that our kindergarten families and Mrs. Britton will need to leave between 5:45 and 6:00 p.m. to head to Penncrest for Kindergarten Dash. If your family plans to attend both the Block Party and Kindergarten Dash with Mrs. Britton, please sign up here so the PTG can ensure you have VIP access to food, refreshments, and treats before heading to Penncrest.
We look forward to celebrating with everyone and wish our kindergarten Bobcats the very best at the Dash!
Families are invited to enjoy music with DJ Tydalwave, games, raffles, and food and beverages available for purchase from Wayside Market, Kona Ice, and Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck. Wayside Market will offer burgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers, and watermelon. Vegetarian options will be available. Travelin’ Tom’s will offer coffee and frozen hot chocolate.
Raffle prizes include a ride to school in a fire truck, a customized ILES message board sign, Wayside Market gift cards, a squishy basket, premier parking spaces for school events, the opportunity to slime the principal, and more. Some raffles will also be available virtually. A portion of food and beverage sales will benefit the Bobcat Campaign Fund. If the fundraising goal is met, Mrs. Britton will camp out on the roof of Indian Lane!
New Staff Spotlight!
Mrs.Bevan- 2nd Grade!
Amy Bevan has already made a meaningful impact at Indian Lane. She began as a Building Substitute and stepped into long-term substitute positions in both fourth grade and Learning Support last year. Through these experiences, Amy has developed strong connections with many of our students and families and gained a deep understanding of the Indian Lane community. She is dedicated to supporting each child’s growth and creating a classroom environment where students feel known, valued, and encouraged. Amy’s strong work ethic, flexibility, and genuine care for children have been evident in every role she has taken on. She is a thoughtful collaborator, a supportive colleague, and someone who consistently steps up to meet the needs of students and staff. We are thrilled to welcome Amy as a full-time member of our faculty and one of our five second-grade teachers this year.
Mr. Bucolo- Art!
We are excited to welcome Josh Bucolo as our new Art teacher. Josh brings experience teaching art in both elementary and middle school settings, including rotating first-grade classes at Springfield Literacy Center. He has designed inclusive visual-art and sculpture curriculum, coordinated yearly art shows, and supervised a Digital Art Club. Josh also brings direct theater-design experience. At Springfield, he assisted with set design for the school musicals each year. Earlier, at Highland Park Elementary, he helped design sets and costumes for multiple musical productions. His experience with visual art, sculpture, digital art, and theater design will create new opportunities for students to explore, create, and feel proud of their work.
Ms. Koehler- Learning Support!
Maggie Koehler is already a familiar and highly valued member of the Indian Lane community. She began as a member of our support staff, where she made an immediate impact through her care for students and willingness to step in wherever needed. Maggie later completed her student teaching at Indian Lane and continued to impress us during her long-term substitute assignment. Her dedication, strong relationships with children, and steady presence have been evident in every role she has held. We are so excited to have Maggie joining our Learning Support team full-time as the case manager for Kindergarten Learning Support, third grade, and half of fifth grade.
Ms. Paffas- School Counselor!
We are so excited to have two full-time school counselors at Indian Lane this year! Ms. Paffas joins Mrs. Hilden as part of our expanded counseling team. Ms. Paffas comes to us from the Lower Merion School District, where she recently completed a two-year long-term substitute assignment.
To help students and families build consistent, meaningful relationships with their counselors, each counselor will have designated grade-level responsibilities. Mrs. Hilden will support AM Kindergarten, second grade, and fourth grade. Ms. Paffas will support PM Kindergarten, Kindergarten Autistic Support, first grade, and third grade. Both counselors will work with fifth-grade students, with Mrs. Hilden supporting the Siciliano/Michaels cohort and Ms. Paffas supporting the Bianchi/Speir cohort.
This structure allows each counselor to know the students, families, and teachers in their assigned grades deeply and provide timely, proactive support. It also allows us to provide additional classroom guidance lessons in first grade, supporting students as they navigate the excitement and new experiences of their first year in elementary school. These lessons will help students build friendships, manage emotions, solve problems, and develop confidence as learners.
Although counselors have assigned grade levels, both Ms. Paffas and Mrs. Hilden are here to support every Indian Lane student, family, and staff member. Together, they will expand the care, connection, and social-emotional support available to our entire school!
Welcome to Indian Lane!
We are pleased to welcome back Dr. Levy, our Specialized Programs Psychologist, and to welcome Ms. Bushey, our Building-Based Psychologist. Both will work with students, families, and staff at Indian Lane and Media Elementary.
We are also excited to welcome Mrs. Lora Rigatti as our new AGP teacher. While Mrs. Rigatti is new to Indian Lane, she has been teaching gifted education at Media and Glenwood since 2014. Mrs. Rigatti brings a wealth of experience in classroom teaching and instructional coaching. She is excited to get to know our students and families, collaborate with staff, and become part of the Indian Lane community. We are very happy to have her joining our team!

Do I need an account?
If you are not entering the form through HAC, yes. Creating an account lets you securely save your work and return later if needed. Please use the same account when completing forms for multiple children.
Do I need to answer every question?
Complete all fields marked Required.
What if I make a mistake?
Click an underlined field to edit it, or select Previous to return to an earlier page.
What happens after I complete the form?
Click Submit to send your information to the school. If you cannot select Submit, please check that all required questions have been answered.

Kindergarten participants will line up together and run the length of the turf field together before our 7 pm home football game on Thursday September 3rd vs. Strath Haven! All Kindergarten participants will receive a "Future LION" t-shirt they can wear for the event.
Kindergarten families should arrive at 6:15 pm and meet on the track at 6:30 pm (near the scoreboard end of the field). The dash will be held at 6:40 pm. Students will be asked to quickly leave the field after the run, to allow the football team time to warm up. This is NOT a drop-off event. We ask only one parent/guardian on the field with your kindergarten student (no siblings).
Football game admission is $5/adult (ages 12 and older). Cash only -- please try to have exact change. Note: Referred to as the "Media Bowl", this game typically draws a large crowd so please plan to arrive early as parking may be limited. (Due to the holiday weekend, there will be NO SCHOOL on Friday September 4th.)
We are also looking for volunteers for the event: Kindergarten Dash Volunteers 2026.
