Message from Principal Martinez 🐾 Message from Principal Martinez 🐾

Dear Wildcat Families:

We were excited to celebrate Kindness Week at school! This special week was dedicated to helping our students focus on empathy, inclusion, and the positive impact their words and actions have on others. Kindness is a skill that grows with practice, and together we can help our children build habits that strengthen friendships and our school community.

Throughout the week, students participated in activities that encouraged:

  • Using kind words and respectful language

  • Including others in play and learning

  • Showing empathy and understanding different perspectives

  • Recognizing how small acts of kindness can make a big difference

While we practiced kindness at school, your partnership at home makes an even greater impact. Here are a few simple ways you can support KINDNESS at home:

💛 Talk about kindness.
Ask your child questions like:

  • “What is one kind thing you did today?”

  • “Did someone show kindness to you?”

  • “How can we help someone who is feeling left out?”

💛 Model it.
Children learn by watching the adults around them. Let them see you using patience, gratitude, and respectful communication—even in small, everyday moments.

💛 Practice kind language.
Encourage phrases such as “thank you,” “please,” “I’m sorry,” and “Can I help?” These simple words build strong social habits.

💛 Do a family kindness challenge.
Try one act of kindness each day—write a note to a neighbor, help a sibling, call a grandparent, or donate gently used items.

💛 Reinforce problem-solving with kindness.
When conflicts come up, guide your child to think about how their choices affect others and what a kind solution might look like.

Kindness helps children feel safe, valued, and connected. Thank you for partnering with us to grow a school community where every child feels seen and supported.

Take-Home Meals for Students Fasting for Ramadan Take-Home Meals for Students Fasting for Ramadan

The USDA approved California’s request to allow students fasting during Ramadan to take school meals home. Between February 23 and March 19, 2026, PUSD students who are fasting for Ramadan may pick up bagged, shelf-stable meals from their school cafeteria during the meal period, and bring them home for later. Parents/guardians must pre-register students for this option. Meals will be limited to foods and beverages that do not require refrigeration, so variety will be limited. Pre-registered students can choose to either eat the regular meals offered at school, or take home bagged meals for later, but not both.

If your child(ren) will be fasting during Ramadan and you would like to register them for take-home meals, please complete the online form by Friday, February 6, 2026: Ramadan Meals Registration Form

🎉 100th Day of School Fun! 🎉 🎉 100th Day of School Fun! 🎉

Mr. Ryan Challenge

To celebrate the 100th day of school, our campus took part in a school-wide scavenger hunt featuring 100 pictures of Mr. Ryan hidden around common areas. The excitement kicked off during morning announcements, when both students and Mr. Ryan discovered the surprise at the same time! Students had a blast searching, cheering each other on, and bringing their finds to the collection board in the office. The activity brought our school community together in a fun and positive way—and thanks to their teamwork, students earned a well-deserved school-wide extra recess! It was a memorable day filled with excitement, smiles, school spirit, and a whole lot of laughter.
