The Kentucky Summative Assessment (the state test for grades 3-5) is quickly approaching! KSA testing begins on Wednesday, May 10th. Your child´s teacher can provide you with updates and/or a schedule for which test is taken each day.

The content areas tested at each grade level are:

3rd: Reading, Math

4th: Reading, Math, Science

5th: Reading, Math, Social Studies, Writing On Demand, Language Mechanics

Students have been asking and we finally have totals for our penny drive!

Altogether, LJES collected $1,270.30. What a great way to show our care toward others and support a worthy cause! Thank you for your donation this past month.

The classrooms that collected the most money will be awarded with an ice cream party by the LJ Fire Department, complete with a visit with the truck.

Be on the lookout for information about our end of year activities. We are down to the final 20 school days of this year. That means information about awards days, field day, promotion ceremonies, and so much more will be coming your way soon. Your child will begin bringing information home soon for dates that are important to his/her class. So far, we have the following dates set:

May 1-4:

• 3rd grade awards ceremony 1:30pm

May 23:

• 4th grade awards ceremony 1:30pm
• SBDM 4:30pm

• Talent Show - 9:30am and 2:00pm - Parents/Guardians of students performing may attend either performance

May 26:

• Kindergarten promotion ceremony 10am
• 5th grade promotion ceremony 1:30pm
• 5th grade dance after school 4-6pm

May 29:

• No school - Memorial Day

May 30:

• Field Day

May 31:

• Last day of school

Field Day is scheduled for Tuesday, May 30th. We would love to have your help that day! If you are interested in volunteering to help that day by leading a station, please reach out to lisa.white@bullitt.kyschools.us so that you can complete the background check in time to participate.

ALL returning students must enroll for next school year. Currently, less than half of our students have complete registrations for the 2023-2024 school year.
