Scientific trial activity in 7th grade science

This week, our 7th grade scientists tackled the mystery, "Did SpongeBob Kidnap Mr. Krabs?". Our students analyzed evidence, conducted investigations, interpreted data, and built evidence-based arguments to support their conclusions. This activity strengthened our knights' critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Exploring our solar system scavenger hunt in 8th grade science

Our 8th grade science students took part in a solar system scavenger hunt in the media center this week. Working in teams, our knights searched for fact cards hidden throughout the media center and used the information they discovered to answer questions about the solar system. This lesson encouraged collaboration, critical thinking, and data analysis as they explored the size, distance, and unique characteristics of planets and other celestial objects.

7th grade lesson: Overcoming Obstacles Unit Theme-Mindset and Goals

Summary: This week’s lesson will introduce our 7th grade knights to the If–Then Plan, a strategy for handling obstacles before they arise. They'll learn how anticipating challenges and planning a response can help them stay on track toward their goals.

At home connecter: Ask your knight to explain what an If–Then Plan is. Work together to create an If–Then Plan for a challenge they might face at home or school.

8th grade lesson: Motivation Factors 2 Unit Theme-Mindset and Goals

Summary: This week’s lesson will focus on a third factor that affects motivation—cost. Our 8th grade knights will learn about the three components of cost and how weighing these costs influences their motivation to complete a task.

At home connecter: Share a time when you had to decide whether something was worth the effort, time, or risk. Ask your knight about a time they had to weigh the costs of doing something and whether they decided to do it or not.

Outside Food and Beverage Policy

The district does not allow the delivery of food and beverages from outside vendors or fast food establishments for a student’s breakfast or lunch meal. All meals are to be provided by either our Food Service program or prepared at home and sent with your student.

Outside food delivery is a safety concern. We do not want to have strangers and people that we do not know coming to our buildings with delivery bags. It also is a workload issue for office personnel. Managing multiple food deliveries during lunchtime becomes an additional responsibility for our office staff.

The District works hard to provide a variety of healthy, good-tasting food in its cafeterias, and students are always free to bring their own lunch to school. We will continue to follow our past practice of making sure students receive lunch if they forget to bring one from home.

RICHARDS MS/ FRASER HS STUDENT/SPECTATOR EXPECTATIONS

3. Our students are to remain in the bleachers (not permitted to stand or sit on the floor) when cheering during an event/contest.

4. Spectators/students will be removed from the facility if they interfere with the play of the game/officials/coaches/players or school personnel.

5. Richards Middle School students need to present their student ID at the entrance point and can not be our citizenship list

6. Students may not bring outside food or drinks into the school or stadium.

7. No outside balls or noise makers that are not pre-approved by administration

8. Students are expected to sit in the bleachers and not hang out in the hallways, Athletic Entrance, Stadium entrance or open areas inside the stadium.

9. Students are not to sit in or walk over to the Visiting Teams Bleachers

10. In the event that a student is asked to leave a game, the parent or the guardian will be asked to take that student home.

11. Once a student/spectator exits the athletic facilities, they will not be permitted to re-enter.

12. Students not representing schools competing in that day's contest will not be permitted into the Fraser HS/MS athletic facilities.

13. Spectators/students are to exhibit Sportsmanship at all time, cheer positively and support all those individuals involved in the event you are attending.

14. Respect all officials at all times as the number of officials available is declining. Don't be a reason why an official will not work a Fraser event in the future.

As always, the safety of our staff, students, and families remains our top priority. These additional measures will support our students in making good choices and create a safe environment for all to enjoy the event. We encourage our families and students to take advantage of these athletic events. We can come together with our school community and reconnect with family and friends. Fraser is a special place and our athletic events allow our community to celebrate the rich history and tradition of our schools.

To provide the most effective process for entering and exiting Richards Middle School, we need our families consistent help in observing the below traffic expectations:

  • Our RMS bus loop is only to be used by emergency vehicles and our district’s school buses between the hours of 7:15 am through 4:00 pm.
  • To help with our daily traffic flow, please follow our painted traffic arrows in our parking lot.
  • In supporting our traffic flow for entering and exiting for all vehicles, please observe no standing, parking, waiting and stopping in the parking lot aisle ways.
  • When exiting Richards Middle School at dismissal time, please utilize either our RMS Garfield exit, FHS Garfield exit or FHS Klein exit.

Please be aware of students, families and guests who are walking in our parking lots by obeying traffic laws, regulating your speed, and following the traffic direction arrows. Images can be found below. Please no parking or standing where you see a red x.

Our district security personnel will communicate these expectations to our families when needed. Thank you for your support with keeping RMS a safe travel area for everyone on campus.

PLEASE BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR ADDITIONAL SIGNS ALONG THE DROP OFF LANE TO HELP DIRECT TRAFFIC FLOW! PLEASE BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR ADDITIONAL SIGNS ALONG THE DROP OFF LANE TO HELP DIRECT TRAFFIC FLOW!

Attention students who utilize the crosswalk to walk over Garfield Road

This is a reminder to our students to ensure that you are using the appropriate area to cross the street to get to the other side of Garfield. Please see pictures below for reference of our crosswalk signs and striped area by the Richards Middle School Electronic Board. We want our students to make sure they are looking both ways and being aware of vehicles traveling on Garfield. Always wait to cross this crosswalk when the road is clear to do so.

We thank you for always being aware of your safety and traveling vehicles as you arrive and leave RMS at this crosswalk area.
