Season of Hope - FMS Service Learning Opportunity
St. Francois County Community Partnership coordinates county-wide to make an impact in our community for the holidays. Last year, 1,135 children in St. Francois County were given a much brighter season because of the donations and efforts from our community.
Season of Hope
Schoolwide Goal: $1800
Advisory Goal: $10 for every 3 students in the advisory.
Service Learning:
Students will complete research about poverty in our county and how Season of Hope helps our community.
Project:
Character Council will make big paper ornaments for advisories. Each advisory will write 4-6 facts they learn from research about Seasons of Hope to their ornament. These ornaments will be displayed outside of the classroom on the wall or the door. Advisories will also receive a goal meter to display outside of their classroom to track their progress to their goal.
Incentives:
The first advisory to reach their goal in each grade level will get doughnuts!
On Fridays, students will be able to pay $1 to wear a hat. Funds will go to Seasons of Hope but won’t count towards the Advisory goal.
If we meet the schoolwide goal, we will have a Christmas Social before Christmas break.
Christmas Social Details
Takes place during the school day for around 2 hours
Concessions would be sold in the cafeteria. (Teachers would sell and supervise.)
Dance takes place in the gym. (Teachers would supervise.)
Activities will be available for those that don’t like to dance. Activities could include: movie, board games, gaming room, craft, etc. (Some teachers would volunteer to host other activities. Teachers would choose the activity they would like to host.)

Notes from the Cafeteria
Students will need their ID# and money deposited in their account to purchase from the A La Carte Line at Middle School.
FMS Library
We celebrated our October "Fall into Reading Day" this week. Students have been becoming acquainted with Beanstack and learning how to build better reading habits by logging their book reading. This allows students and staff to set goals and work to become better readers.
Remember there is an app you can use as well to log from a cell phone and connect it to your school Beanstack account.
