Holy Rosary
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3| WEEK 3| 8TH AUG 2025
Saint Dominic's Day was celebrated at school today and in our Parish on the weekend. As we mark the anniversary of his death and his entrance into eternal glory, He is the founder of the Order of Friars Preachers, also known as the Dominicans and has a special connection to both our school and parish.
Loving God,
You called St Dominic to shine the light of truth in a world in need of your wisdom and grace.
Through his example of prayer, study, and preaching,
he brought many to know your love and mercy.
On this special day, we give thanks for the Dominican spirit -
for the courage to speak truth,
the humility to serve others,
and the joy that comes from living in your light.
May we, like St Dominic, be faithful witnesses to the Gospel,
seeking truth, building peace, and walking always in your love.
Bless our school community, our families, and all who follow in Dominic’s footsteps.
St Dominic, pray for us.
Amen.
Celebrating St Dominic’s Day and Student Achievements!
Dear Families,
We had a wonderful time celebrating St Dominic’s Day today! The day was filled with joy, reflection, and community spirit. Students enjoyed vibrant stalls filled with treats activities and treasures, and the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement.
A huge thank you to our P&F team, Bridgeen, Jane, Jules, Mark and Rose for organising the sausage sizzle and modelling the tradition of humbly serving others - it was a hit! We’re so grateful to all our professional educators with the extras they put in to make the day extra special. Your support truly brings our school community together.
We’d also like to congratulate our talented students who excelled in recent competitions:
- Chess Champions – Our upper school students took out top honours in the complex competition Congratulations Jayce, Aiden and Sam. Their strategic thinking and teamwork were outstanding! Thank you Mrs Butson too.
- Cranium Challenge – What an exciting day! A group of our extension students travelled to St Mary’s with Mrs Silvestri and showed incredible creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration in this fun and fast-paced challenge.
Thank you to everyone who helped make these events memorable and fill our school with joy.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Kind regards,
Michael O'Dwyer
Principal
🎉 Happy St Dominic’s Day! 🙏🌭

Students enjoyed visiting stalls, games, face painting, nail polish (even Mr O joined in!), and a delicious free sausage sizzle and juice box thanks to our amazing P&F.
A wonderful day of faith, friendship, and fun at Holy Rosary! 💙

Cranial Minds Challenge
Our Rosary Scholars Cranial Minds Team has been putting their talents to the test in the 2025 Cranial Minds Challenge, hosted by St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School. This exciting three-week event brings together high-achieving students from across Perth to collaborate in mixed-school teams on a series of challenges.
In the Maths Challenge held last week, our students demonstrated sharp reasoning and teamwork. This week, they tackled the Engineering Challenge, applying creativity and critical thinking to solve real-world problems. The final round, a General Knowledge Challenge, will take place next Thursday.
Participation in the Cranial Minds Challenge is part of our Rosary Scholars Program, which nurtures gifted and talented students through enriched learning experiences, critical thinking, and leadership development

5 Reasons Kids Don’t Seek Help With Tricky Friendships: We’ve discovered through our URSTRONG program that sometimes children don’t always open up to their parents when they’re experiencing challenging issues with friends. This article explores the reasons why and provides a few tips to open up the lines of communication with your child.
Year 6 students will commence Term 3 Council Groups on Friday. This program gives our senior students a chance to give back and show leadership skills. Thank you for supporting them with the Talent Show and Vinnies donations.
Mrs Butson
Dear Parents, this week we have had quite a few confirmed cases of COVID in our communitity. To try and limit the spread Boorloo Public Health Unit has advised that good hand hygeine and coughing etiquette is imperative. If you could go through the below with your children this weekend, we would be very grateful.
Together we can keep our community as healthy as possible.
