Joan Martin Weekly Update
Friday, September 30
College Go Week was a great week at Joan Martin! Looking ahead at the future students participated in several different spirit days celebrating the many options they have ahead of them. Our 4th graders were able to head over to Hobart High School and learn about all the opportunities they will have there at Hobart University and our 5th graders participated in a Zoom Meeting with our superintendent looking at the High School Course Catelog and learning about all the classes and opportunities as well.
All students participated in a Anti-Bullying Presentation and learned about kindness and how to be a good friend to others. Students got to spend time with Mrs. Caddick, Mrs. Roth, and Corpral Webber during these presentations. These presentations also tied into our SEL lesson this week from Mrs. Matthys talking about how we need to learn to acknowledge our feelings and then THINK before responding to situations and also considering others feelings as we respond.

Veterans Day Program
Students should have brought home a Veterans Day flyer this week. Please make sure you read over and submit the bottom portion if there will be a guest attending. We would also like and Joan Martin Family members that are Veterans to be honored in the slide show. Please email Mrs. Williams the information listed below. All items need to be recieved by 10/28 in order for us to prepare for our Program.
Dismissal
We know the students are excited to play on the new playground, however we need to make sure if they are car riders they know they are NOT to run to the playground while waiting to be picked up. We have announced this to students this week, but are still having some sneak over there. It is important that you help us with this. We are completely okay with parents parking their car and walking to the meeting place near the loading dock road to meet up with their child and walking to the playground together. Please understand we do not have an adult available to supervise this area, as we are all covering different areas of dismissal.

Stay Informed!
The School City of Hobart uses Remind to communicate with families via text messages and/or phone calls.
What are some ways that we use Remind?
- District News- Weekly newsletter, emergency closings, and other important information
- Class Reminders from Teachers - Events, tests, homework, due dates
- Announcements and Celebrations
- One-on-One Help
If you have not been receiving our messages and would like to, please reach out to your student's teacher for their Remind class code, which you will then text to 81010. For example, if you wanted to join a class with the class code @math, you would text @math to 81010.
