SCHOOL YEAR WRAPPING UP AND GRADUATION DAY PREP IS UNDERWAY
It's hard to believe that the 2024-2025 school year is already wrapping up, but the reality is, graduation day is right around the corner. This week at Elizabeth High School, graduation prep is underway and EHS Principal Bret McClendon says there are a few things that families should keep in mind as the big day approaches.
He says on graduation day, it's important to pay attention to the weather. It's always a good idea to bring sunscreen, water and sunglasses. Also, if additional parking is needed, families can park at Elizabeth Middle School and walk over to the stadium. McClendon says this year, there will be a sign language translator at graduation.
EHS Graduation is scheduled for Saturday, May 24th at 10 a.m. McClendon says families can begin to arrive as early as 8:30 a.m.
This week, EHS staff held a graduation rehearsal and students took part in the annual Changing of the Guard ceremony with an assembly. We look forward to celebrating the achievements of our students next week!

SINGING HILLS ELEMENTARY STUDENTS LEARNING ALL ABOUT STEM CAREERS
The sky's the limit!
In Mrs. McMullen's STEM classroom at Singing Hills Elementary, students have been listening to guest speakers talk about careers in the STEM field.
One of the guest speakers was Ed Ryan who started off his career working as a machinist in a small shop. Later he worked on the Hubble Space Telescope as the project coordinator. He spent 32 years working for Lockheed Martin and talked to the students about how important it is to demonstrate hard work and dedication in a career.
Arthur Scott is a retired aerospace engineer and was the chief engineer on early space shuttle launches and landings on a variety of other space projects. He spent 35 years working as a mechanical engineer and worked for NASA, Martin Marietta and Lockheed Martin just to name a few. He asked the students what they wanted to be when they grow up and also showed the group a picture of himself as a student, explaining that when he was their age he had no idea what he wanted to do, but pointed out that he developed an early passion for math and science.
Peter Goupee is in the principal data engineer at Starz. He has over 25 years of experience designing and building scalable applications and data solutions. His expertise spans cloud infastructure, workflow automation and modern data pipeline development. Goupee likes to solve complex problems and collaborating with teams to deliver impactful solutions.
A special thank you to all of the guest speakers from Mrs. McMullen's class for inspiring our young students with STEM careers!

A FULL CIRCLE EXPERIENCE FOR EHS SENIORS AT RCE AND SHE
As part of an annual tradition, EHS students who attended RCE many years ago took one last stroll through the hallways to reflect on their journey through Elizabeth School District.
Running Creek Principal Michael Seefried says it was an absolute joy to welcome back the former Jaguars and says the halls were filled with cheers, high fives and proud smiles as RCE students and staff celebrated their accomplishments and wished them well on the next chapter of their journey.
Seefried says the Grad Walk was a meaningful reminder of how far our students go and the lasting impact that RCE has on student lives.
Congratulations Class of 2025 -- you will always be part of the Jaguar family!

At Singing Hills Elementary, EHS Seniors also took a walk through the hallways for the Singing Hills Senior Clap Out. During the walk, students reflected on the experience they had at the elementary school and all of the dedicated and talented teachers at SHE who taught them along the way. Congratulations class of 2025!

PRESCHOOL FIELD DAY AND GRADUATION CEREMONIES
Moving on up and moving outside!
Singing Hills Elementary Preschool held their field day this week. They had nine stations set up for the children with ten parent volunteers running the stations. Karena Dohman, ESD Director of Early Childhood Education says the turnout was great and wants to give a special thank you to all of the volunteers and teachers for their hard work to make the event great and fun for the kids.
Additionally, Running Creek Preschool held their first preschool graduation ceremony this week. Dohman says the graduating class has 40 pre-K students who will be moving to Kindergarten next year. She says they also had a wonderful turnout for that event from families and that the ceremony included a slideshow that showcased the kids talking about what they wanted to be when they grow up.
