Hello Mill Valley Families,
As our school year comes to an end, I want to give a BIG thank you to everyone! We had so much fun learning and growing together this year. We hope you all have a safe and super relaxing summer vacation!
Keep an eye on your email in early August. We'll send you a special "Welcome Letter" telling you who your child's teacher will be, and a link to sign up for Student Summit on Wednesday, August 27th. It's going to be a great way to start the new school year!
In Partnership,

End of the Year Behavior Summary for Families
We have so much to celebrate as this year comes to an end! A special thanks to all of our Mill Valley staff for their diligence in teaching and reinforcing expected behaviors at school, and for your continued support at home to reinforce our expectations of being respectful, responsible, and kind. Here are some highlights from this year!
In our population of 427 students this year,
- 87.3% of students received 0 to 1 behavioral referral(s)
- 10.8% of students received 2 to 5 behavioral referrals
- 1.9% of students received 6+ behavioral referrals
This is data we’re excited to see, as it shows that many of our students either have no behavioral incidents this year, or they had just one- meaning it was an isolated incident and the student learned what they needed to do/change going forward from the incident. This is an increase in the percentage of students with only 0-1 behavior incidents compared to last year (84.5%). In addition, we had a 21% decrease in the total number of behavior incidents that occurred this year, which is another reason to celebrate!
Paw Prints
This year, students at Mill Valley earned a collective 16,188 Paw Prints! Our 4th graders led the pack, earning 8,632 Paw Prints. Wow!!
Kindergarten = 1,662 Paw Prints
1st Grade = 2,088 Paw Prints
2nd Grade = 1,892 Paw Prints
3rd Grade = 1,914 Paw Prints
Monthly Golden Awards
We continued to celebrate positive behavior monthly at our Golden Awards assembly. We celebrated monthly winners from Music, Art, Library, Phy Ed, attendance, recess, lunch, bus, recycling, and classroom cleanliness. Our top winners this year were…
Miss Hoerig’s 1st Grade Class- 8 Golden Awards
Mrs. Schaefer’s 4th Grade Class- 8 Golden Awards
Mrs. Kutz’s 3rd Grade Class- 6 Golden Awards
Mrs. Bronstad’s 4th Grade Class- 5 Golden Awards
Buddy Classes
Our buddy classes met monthly to continue fostering positive relationships, building a sense of community, and supporting the social and academic development of our students. They completed many activities together, including showing gratitude around Thanksgiving time, spreading holiday cheer to local nursing homes, working with our One Book, One School book (Because of the Rabbit), and celebrating friendship.
Recess Royalty
New this year, we recognized positive behavior at recess with our “Recess Royalty” honorees. Our recess Educational Assistants were on the lookout all year for students who went above and beyond at recess to show respect, kindness, and responsibility. Students were celebrated with a certificate, a shoutout on the morning announcements, and a tag for their locker.
