Hosford Middle School
May 3, 2026
Thank you, Lowe's!
A big thanks to Portland area Lowe's! They donated over $500 worth of supplies and buckets to the Hosford PE program. The supplies were used to build cornhole boards that will be used for years to come in PE and the buckets are being used for activities and storage. Thank you Lowe's!
Dear Families,
Happy May! This week we start english language arts state testing, host our incoming 6th graders on Wednesday morning, and have a staff meeting schedule on Tuesday. Students will start at 9:30 am on Tuesday.
Thank you for the tissues! There has been quite the need lately. We are now completely out of wipes. If you are able to help out, please click here.
Mid-terms are this week. Please check ParentVue with your child and look for any missing assignments. While you're in there, take a look at the attendance. You can review tardies and any period absences or skips.
It's staff appreciation week. Don't forget to show your appreciation to your child's teachers!
Have a great week,
Jill Liddle, Principal

This resource tells what learning activities were assigned in each class. It is a great way to check on assignments with your child. Middle school is a time when students need help developing the routine of reflection and organizing materials. This resource is your support for those conversations.

Library Books - Due May 22nd
Hi Hosford families! It's been a great year for reading at Hosford, but we are getting close to our due date for all library books--May 22! Please give a look around your homes for Hosford library books. (Most of our books have a spine label, for example!) Any book still out will switch to a fine on May 26. Fines for lost books (replacement fees) can only be paid in SchoolPay. We are also happy to receive another copy of the same book. If you have questions, please let us know: amahrt@pps.net and/or kfleming@pps.net. Thanks for your help getting our books back!

HOOPBus - WNBA Team Portland Fire
The HOOPBus is Coming to Hosford!
We are thrilled to announce that Hosford has been selected as one of only five PPS schools to host the HOOPBus on Tuesday, May 5th!
In partnership with Portland’s new WNBA team (Portland Fire), the HOOPBus uses basketball to build community and teach vital life skills like teamwork, leadership, and communication.
The Game Plan
Who: Students in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-period Health and PE classes.
What: Interactive, small-group stations led by professional HOOPBus staff.
Why: To build excitement for our local WNBA team while practicing social-emotional skills in a fun, high-energy environment.
Important: We Need Your Waiver!
To ensure your student can participate in the on-bus activities, a signed waiver is required.
Distribution: Waivers will be sent home with students in the coming days and are attached to an email sent to families.
Action Item: Please sign the form and have your student return it to their Health or PE teacher as soon as possible.
We can’t wait to see our students bring their "A-game" to this unique event! If you have any questions, please reach out to the front office.
Go Huskies!

PTSA Help Needed
Dear Families,
Thank you for the support you have given us this year! We are so pleased to have been able to fund staff grants that directly impact our students' school experience. We are grateful to the parents who have stepped up to make the PTSA happen. We will miss those whose students are moving on to high school and are excited to meet the families of the incoming 6th graders.
As we look to next year we are in need of filling our board again so that we can again fund staff grants and hold teacher appreciation events.
The following positions are open for the 26-27 school year:
President
Vice President
Secretary
Staff appreciation chair
Fundraising chair
Communications chair
Member(s) at large
Without volunteers to take on these positions, we will not be able to have a PTSA and thus the school and our students will lose the support we have been giving them. We recognize that times are tough and many of us are overwhelmed with our to-dos yet we stand strong in the belief that together we can make the load lighter and take actions to make our students' world a bit better.
We meet about once a month during the school year and host 3 general meetings. Linked HERE you will find a breakdown of the tasks and time commitment of each role. This is a great opportunity to stay involved with your student’s school and play an active role in creating a positive and supportive community! We are also flexible – something is better than nothing and we value each other's time. Please reach out if you are interested or have any questions at ptsahosford@gmail.com
We will have our final PTSA General Meeting in the Hosford Library on Tuesday May 12th from 6:00-7:30 (Virtual link will be provided soon).
With Gratitude,
Jamie Lyle
Christine Barlow Reid
Chris Tyler
Sara Albert
Mandy Brigham
