A Note from the Principal's Desk

Greetings Hawthorne ES Parents/Guardians,

Happy Veterans Day to all our Parents Veterans! As we prepare to honor our Veterans, we invite all staff and students to show their support by wearing red, white, and blue on Monday November 11, 2024. This is a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together and pay tribute to the sacrifices made by our veterans. Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing everyone in their patriotic colors!

Starting this week, the winter MAP assessments will be administered to our Hornet Scholars in Reading and Math, with additional Language usage and Science assessments for grades 3-5. Please refer to the parent video resources below to learn more about the assessments. Encourage your child to give their best effort, as this helps us celebrate their progress. Thank you for your support!

Congratulations to our outstanding Hawthorne soccer team on another well-earned victory this Saturday! We’re so proud of our players and deeply grateful to everyone who came out to cheer them on.

A huge thank you to our incredible PTA for organizing an unforgettable Movie Night—it was such a joy for our families to enjoy time together. Heartfelt appreciation to the Hawthorne ES Foundation for hosting an exquisite Casino Night fundraiser. Your support is invaluable to our school community.

As we step into the 14th week of school, gratitude is extended to our parents that continue to support our school. Please also take a moment to review our shared safety responsibilities to ensure our community remains secure and welcoming for everyone.

We have a new Faculty Member to join us this week, please welcome Ms. Lewis, our new Special Education, paraprofessional.

We’re excited to see everyone at our Family Ties Lunch! If you haven’t yet returned your RSVP confirmation, please do so by tomorrow, Monday November 11th. This will help us ensure we have everything ready for you and your students to enjoy a special time together.

We’re eagerly looking forward to events this week designed to engage both our families and students.

MAP Winter Assessment - November 11-22
World Kindness Day - November 13th - Celebrating world kindness day Wednesday, Nov. 13th. Staff & students can wear a kindness shirt or any color you feel that represents Kindness. We WANT TO COLOR OUR SCHOOL WITH KINDNESS.
Book Fair -November 18-22
Literacy Night - November 20th @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Family Ties Lunch - November 21st (Times vary by grade level) We’re excited to invite parents to a special Family Ties luncheon on Thursday, November 21. Come enjoy a meal, connect with other families, and celebrate the season with us!
Thanksgiving Break (No School) - November 25-29

4th/5th Grade Winter Concert - December 5th @ 6pm
Holiday Class Celebrations /Last Day of School - December 20th
Winter Break (No School)- December 23rd – January 6th

As a reminder, students at school daily improve academic outcomes. Please make sure your child is at school every day unless he/she is truly sick. Students should miss no more than 18 days of school in a school year.

Morning & Afternoon Dismissal

Morning Arrival & Afternoon Dismissal

The drop-off times in front of the school are below:

7:00 am - Buses

7:05 am - Car Riders

7:45 am - Tardy bell

Morning announcements begin at 7:45.

Car riders:: When picking students up, parents should have the Hawthorne ES Car Rider Tag visible in their car. If the Car Rider Tag is not visible, parents are required to park, come into the building and provide Identification. Thank you for your patience as we simply want to keep your students' safe.

Early Check Out: should occur prior to 1:50 pm.

The pick-up times for dismissal are below:

Bus riders-2:25:pm; Car riders 2:35 pm (front of building after buses) & walkers (Side door)

LUNCH FOR THE 2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR

HES will have free lunch this year however, we still need your support with completing the Meal Application Information 2024-2025. Only 1 Application Needed per family:

Please ALL complete this application process even if you plan to bring lunch for your child daily or believe that you will not qualify. This is very important, this impacts funding for Title 1.
