Make a Royal Impact Every Day

The beginning of a new school year is always an exciting time at Mascoma Valley Regional High School. After months of preparation, it has been wonderful to welcome our students back into the building and see our hallways, classrooms, athletic fields, and activities come alive once again.

Throughout the summer, our custodial and maintenance teams worked tirelessly to prepare our building for the return of students and staff. From cleaning and organizing classrooms to completing important maintenance projects, their efforts helped ensure that we were ready for a successful start to the school year. Our guidance department also spent countless hours preparing schedules, welcoming new students, and supporting families as they transitioned into another school year. We are grateful for the many people who worked behind the scenes to make the opening of school possible.

We had a very successful New Student Orientation Day on August 20 and our Ice Cream Social at the end of the first day was again a huge hit!

As we begin the 2026–2027 school year, I am excited to introduce our school-wide theme:

Make a Royal Impact Every Day

Show Up. Get Involved. Make an Impact.

These words represent the type of school community we want to build together.

Show Up. Be present and ready to learn. Attend daily, come prepared, and bring your best effort to each day. Being present is the first step toward growth and success.

Get Involved. High school is about more than academics. I encourage every student to find a way to connect with our school community—through athletics, clubs, music, theater, student leadership, community service, or other activities. Getting involved helps students build relationships, discover new interests, and create meaningful memories.

Make an Impact. Every member of our school community has the ability to make a difference. A kind word, helping a classmate, welcoming someone new, working hard in class, or demonstrating leadership can positively influence those around us. The impact we make does not always have to be large to be meaningful.

This theme connects directly to our Portrait of a Graduate and the qualities we hope every Mascoma student develops during their time with us. Our goal is to prepare students not only with academic knowledge, but also with the skills and dispositions needed for success beyond high school. Through communication, collaboration, critical thinking, perseverance, responsibility, and engagement, our students are preparing themselves to make a positive impact in their future communities and in the world beyond Mascoma.

As we move into September and settle into our routines, I encourage students and families to make this year one of connection and involvement. Set goals, try something new, support one another, and take advantage of the many opportunities available.

We are off to a great start, and I am excited about all that lies ahead. Thank you to our students, families, faculty, staff, and community for the energy and commitment you bring to our school each day.

Together, let’s make 2026–2027 a year to remember.

Show Up. Get Involved. Make an Impact.

We are off Royals!

On September 8, we welcome this teen safe driving program.

A Comprehensive Solution to Teen Driving Safety Awareness

Teen driver safety is a complex issue, but one that can be addressed with the right approach. The ThinkFast Interactive (TFI) program is designed to be fun, interactive, and tailored to each age group and region, while also conveying safety information based on state and national guidelines. Through peer engagement and rewards, the program encourages students to “be cool” with safety measures, thus shifting their real-world intentions to align with safety benchmarks. Evaluative findings have indicated a shift in group norms due to rewards such as peer recognition and prizes for demonstrating knowledge. TFI is proud to provide an individualized, evidence-informed, and cost-effective plan for reducing motor vehicle-related injuries and fatalities among teen drivers in the states they serve. Join us in our mission to make the roads safer for everyone.

Physical Education

This year Ms. Rej chose to do a different type of first day of PE activity. She wanted to hearing from the students on what THEY need to be successful this year, what THEY are most excited about, and what THEY can do to have integrity in PE. It was a great way to start the school year.

Art Club

Join Art Club! A great way to Make a Royal Impact.

First day in Art Concepts class, students jumped right into the creative process with a collaborative group-doodling activity. Working together on shared canvases, students used simple lines, shapes, and spontaneous sketches to break the ice, practice visual communication, and explore how individual ideas can blend into a unified piece of art. This engaging exercise helped set a supportive, collaborative tone for the semester while reminding everyone that in art, every mark on the page has potential. We are off to an inspiring start and look forward to a vibrant year of making art!
