Retirement Announcements
On behalf of our Bison community I wish MaryPat Hayden-Davis (GT Teacher), Lindy Jones (STEAM Coach/TED Teacher), and Nancy Payton (Secretary) happy retirements! All three are starting their next journey into retirement to travel, enjoy time with family and friends, and explore interests and activities. These three women have given nearly 70 years combined to educating and supporting the education of children. High Plains has been fortunate to have their expertise, experience, and dedication. Thank you Mrs. H-D, Mrs. Jones, and Mrs. Payton for all you have done to support HPS. You will be missed! Remember: Once a Bison, always a Bison!
Sincerely,
Danielle Feeney
Principal

Field Day
Hey Bison families! Field Day is fastly approaching (May 21st) and we wanted to give a few reminders. All families are welcome to come and watch their students participate in activities! You will not have to go to the front office to sign in. Parents are not allowed into the building except for the small gym activity which will be accessed through the outdoor small gym door only in the morning session and the large gym activity which will be accessed through the outdoor large gym door only in the afternoon session. After the indoor session parents must exit the building they are not allowed to be in any other part of the school. This link takes you to the schedule for the day.
Please remind your students to bring sunscreen and a water bottle due to the majority of the activities being outside. Students will be provided lunch but parents will need to bring their own. If parents want to have lunch with their students they must do so outside on the patio not in the cafe. The K-5 session will be from 11:00 am - 1:15 pm. The 6-7 session will be from 1:15 pm - 3:07 pm. We look forward to having a great day with all of our students. Questions- please contact Coach Beck at matt.beck@tsd.org. Go Bison!
Spirit Night
Youth Empowerment Group
The local nonprofit Youth Empowerment Group of education, mental health and medical professionals want to alert you to a learning opportunity for your students and registration closes on Monday. Our fun, interactive PowerUp life skills class for 9 to 12-year-olds is at Aims Community College's Loveland campus as part of the College for Kids program from June 1st -4th! Kind, fun UNC psychology graduate students teach the class in pairs, and play outside games with kids between sessions. The kids love the topics, games, and have great discussions-it was very successful last year. Registration closes this coming Monday, May 18th. Registration link is here.
There are spots available in Loveland and Fort Lupton (week of June 8th). It's great for future leaders and kids who could benefit from the skills we teach (we think all kids could benefit). Sessions build: self-esteem and resilience, emotion recognition and management, coping skills, social media and other media benefits/risks, substance use prevention, healthy relationships, friendship skills, understanding bullying, bullying defense and defender actions, healthy habits, confidence and positive culture among students and between them and adult helpers.
Lost and Found
Our lost and found continues to grow. We kindly ask families to check for any missing belongings before the end of the school year. Any unclaimed items will be donated following the last day of school.
