A Look into the Library:

This week, students continued to hear engaging and entertaining stories as I visited their classrooms for library. A fan favorite series- Creepy Carrots, Creepy Crayon, and Creepy Pair of Underwear- were shared this week. Students LOVED hearing this award-winning series by Aaron Reynolds and Peter Brown.

Each grade level then created characters from the texts. Kindergarten crafted their own creepy carrots, while first graders created a creepy crayon. Second grade constructed Jasper Rabbit, the main character, and his creepy pair of underwear. Students were highly engaged and loved creating these memorable characters! We are all looking forward to the day when students can check out this series- and more- in our brand-new library!

Pop Top Fundraiser - Nov. 2-Dec. 1 for Ronald McDonald House
zoom_out_map

Last week, we enjoyed celebrating Red Ribbon Week here at Mountain Ridge Primary School! We had giveaways, learned about healthy and kind choices on the morning announcements, and hosted a guest speaker from Musselman High School who read a book about kindness to our first grade classes!

During the month of November, we are partnering with our Musselman High School volunteer, Shyann Kesner, to collect pop tops for the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House provides a comfortable place to stay, support, and resources to families with children receiving medical care. Between November 2nd and December 1st, we will hold a pop-top fundraiser. The class that collects the most pop tops throughout the month will win a pizza party hosted by United States Junior Teen Shyann Kesner.

🩺 Flu Season Reminder

Flu season is here! As we work together to keep our students, staff, and families healthy, please remember these simple steps to help prevent the spread of influenza (the flu).

Help keep our school community healthy:

  • Stay up to date on flu vaccinations. Annual flu vaccination is recommended for most people ages 6 months and older.

  • Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

  • Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Keep children home when they are sick. Students with flu-like symptoms should remain home until they are fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medication and their symptoms are improving overall, consistent with school policy.

  • Clean frequently touched surfaces at home and encourage good hygiene habits.

Common flu symptoms include fever or chills, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle aches, headaches, and fatigue. Some children may also experience vomiting or diarrhea.

Thank you for helping us protect our school community this flu season! Together, we can help reduce the spread of illness and keep our students healthy and ready to learn.
