MPE Weekly Roar
March 22, 2024
Principal's Message
Good afternoon Mount Pleasant Elementary Families,
Happy Spring! Although this week feels more like winter, milder weather is coming soon! Thank you to our wonderful PTA volunteers who came to the classrooms this week to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop! The Cultural Celebrations Committee facilitates several exciting celebrations observing various global cultures & traditions represented at MPE. This is made possible with help from amazing parent volunteers & presenters who run the show. The presenters deliver a short lesson followed by a hands-on experience (craft, game, dance, etc). Ask your students about the celebration in their classroom!
This week also marked the conclusion of our Project Achieve Winter Session and Chess Club. Thank you to all who participated and volunteered.
A huge "thank you" to Mrs. Patney for organizing and supervising the Math Kangaroo Kids yesterday after school.
Finally, if your student will not be in school on Friday, April 5, kindly enter the absence in the Genesis Parent Portal right away.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Proud to be MPE!

C.H.O.P. donations in honor of Ayana
Ayana Walli was a bright and creative 10-year-old who faced a rare medical condition with unwavering courage and optimism. Despite her challenges, she inspired everyone around her with her love for learning, art, and Legos. Ayana was a beloved student at MPE.
In her memory, we're raising funds for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's Lego Robotics program. This initiative aims to bring joy and creativity to hospitalized children, just as Ayana did during her time there.
Your contribution will help us honor Ayana's spirit and make a difference in the lives of young patients. Let's come together to keep Ayana's memory alive and bring smiles to those who need it most.

Leprechaun Shenanigans in Kindergarten!
Kindergarten students built traps hoping to catch a leprechaun over the weekend. Those pesky leprchauns created a mess in their classrooms, but no leprechauns were trapped. Following clues left by the leprechauns, Kindergarten students were able to find a pot of gold!

Changes to My School Bucks Fees
Due to rising payment processing interchange fees and increased operational costs, MySchoolBucks is adjusting the per-transaction program fee for school meals to $3.25 for each credit/debit card payment beginning on March 7. If you do not want to pay this per-transaction fee, you have the option of sending in a check made payable to the LPS Cafeteria Account into school with your child. Place checks in an envelope marked "Cafeteria." Checks must include your child's name and student ID number listed in the memo column so that the money is placed in the correct account.
