Blevins Bulletin

September 5, 2025 Principal's Message
Hello Blevins Families,
This past week was filled with moments of Bruin pride. Our students joined the Rocky Mountain High School feeder parade before Friday’s football game, and it was inspiring to see our Bruins represented alongside our feeder schools, building that sense of community spirit that carries through to high school. At the game itself, our Blevins band partnered with the Rocky band to perform together—an unforgettable showcase of talent, collaboration, and school pride.
We also celebrate the hard work and success of our fall athletes. Our football team has shown tremendous growth and resilience leading to their first game this week, while our cross country runners have competed with major success, including a meet win for the boys' team yesterday! On the courts, our tennis and volleyball teams have both demonstrated teamwork, dedication, and steady improvement, reminding us what it means to be a Bruin competitor.
Finally, I want to share some outstanding news about our school performance. The Colorado Department of Education recently released School Performance Framework ratings, and Blevins has officially moved up into the Performance category. This is the highest possible school rating, and the score is the highest we’ve achieved since before COVID. There are many incredible successes in both the achievement and growth of our students in Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. This accomplishment reflects the hard work of our students, the dedication of our staff, and the continued partnership of our families. It’s a milestone worth celebrating, and it motivates us to keep striving toward even greater success.
Thank you for being part of this remarkable community!
Proudly,
Joe Zappa, Principal

Odyssey of the Mind and Bruin Club Information
Odyssey of the Minds:
What’s Odyssey of the Mind? It’s an amazing extra-curricular enrichment that fits beautifully with the PBL program at Blevins. Odyssey is a creative problem-solving program for kids in Kindergarten through College where teams of up to seven members learn to think outside the box, work together to develop creative solutions to broadly defined problems, and eventually present their solution in an eight-minute performance. Odyssey of the Mind teaches 21st-century skills that students need to be successful today and in the future. Children learn to think and work creatively with each other while applying innovative approaches. Children develop skills to communicate clearly and effectively plus respectively collaborate with others.
To learn more about Odyssey of the Minds at Blevins, join us for a family information night on Wednesday, September 10th, from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm in the Media Center.

Blevins Middle School is excited to offer our after-school program, Bruin Club, starting Monday, September 15, 2025! This after-school program, which is funded through the 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) grant, Cohort X, offers students homework help, enrichment clubs, and community connection opportunities, while giving them a safe place to build relationships with other students. Bruin club is a drop-in based program and will be held from 2:25pm to 5:00pm, Monday through Thursday. The fall session runs 09/15/2025 - 12/11/2025. An email will be sent out in early September once we have finalized our enrichment offerings. To Participate: All students must have a completed and approved 2025-2026 “Permission to Participate” form on file before attending Bruin Club.
