- Our 6th graders have been working hard all year on their World Expo projects and we are hosting an open house for parents and elementary students to come check out their projects on June 5th from 8:45-9:45 am in the 6th grade hall. Come check it out!
- Many thanks to the parents who donated to our sound system repair project for the gym! The project is fully funded now and we are working on getting it scheduled so we can kick off next school year with it ready to go!
- Three Hillsboro Hops employees gave a career talk with students about careers in Sports yesterday! Check out the photos and recap below! Huge shout out to Ms. Vanderzanden for organizing our career talk speaker series this year.

Secondary Summer School - registration open now!
We are excited to be offering summer school again this year thanks to our recently awarded summer learning grant from the Oregon Department of Education! This year's summer academy for secondary will have a similar format as last summer, where students will have a combination of literacy instruction and engaging, hands-on enrichment classes with literacy connections.
If you are interested in secondary summer school (for students in incoming grades 6-12), please review our Summer School Overview document to learn more about the programming and logistical details before filling out the registration form. The overview includes information on transportation, meals, schedule, programming, and behavioral expectations.
In person summer school will go from July 6th to July 30th, Mondays through Thursdays (Fridays off), from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.
The registration form serves as the formal registration tool for Banks School District Grades 6-12 Summer Academy. If you have more than one student to enroll, please fill out this form once for each student.
Deadline: The deadline for registering your student for summer school is Monday June 11th, 2025
Hillsboro Hops Career Speaker Visit
Our visit from the Hillsboro Hops yesterday afternoon was great! Kyle, Hannah, and Ivan shared about the year-round jobs they do in the front office, as well as the multitude of other year-round and seasonal jobs that around 300 employees take care of to support the baseball team, games, stadium, and fans! Not only were our presenters fantastic, the students were great too! Our guests commented that they were a great audience. They were engaged, respectful listeners, and had great questions. They let us know they have been to many schools and were VERY impressed with our students! Thank you to Ms. Vanderzanden for organizing this special event!

Construction on Campus
With construction underway at BHS, our parking lot is busier than usual. Please plan to build in a little extra time during drop-off and pick-up, and thank you in advance for your patience. We also ask everyone to be mindful of sharing the space safely with construction crews who are working on site. We appreciate your cooperation as we work through these improvements together.
Ongoing After School Opportunities
Homework Club is offered Mondays and Tuesdays after school in Ms. Reckers' room. Here students can have a dedicated quiet area to work on homework with the support of a teacher.
Bottle Drop Fundraiser for Leadership
BMS Student Leadership is continuing their BottleDrop fundraiser this year as a BottleDrop Give organization and participating using “blue bags”.
Once you fill the bag, you can:
1) Have your student pick up a blue bag with QR code sticker from Ms. King
2) Return it to Mrs. King full of cans/bottles and she will take it to a BottleDrop
3) You can also return it to a BottleDrop location and make sure they scan the BMS Leadership QR code.
