Let’s Glow, Dolphins! ✨
Join DREAM PTO for the Glow Dance on Friday, October 23, from 5:30–6:30 p.m. in the Deterding MP Room!
Wear white or neon to shine under the black lights and enjoy dancing with friends! Glow accessories will be provided.
NEW THIS YEAR:
Attendance & RSVP Guidelines-
To make room for as many students as possible while keeping the dance safe, fun, and within the school’s occupancy limit:
• Currently enrolled Deterding students only. Non-enrolled siblings may not attend.
• One adult per family/household. Every student must have an attending adult responsible for them throughout the dance.
• Students may attend with another Deterding family with their parent/guardian’s permission for that adult to be responsible for their child. One adult may supervise multiple Deterding students.
• Include every attending student and adult on your RSVP so we can accurately track capacity.
• Advance RSVP is required. Spots will be reserved in sign-up order; once capacity is reached, additional families will be placed on a waitlist.
The RSVP form is coming next week! See the attached flyer for event details. Thank you for helping us make room for more Dolphins!
Help us make the night glow! ✨ We’re looking for volunteers to help with setup, handing out glow accessories, and cleanup. A little of your time can make a big difference! Sign up to volunteer here (https://signup.com/go/ienQNUD).

Explore San Juan Unified’s 2026-27 Family Handbook
With the start of a new school year comes a lot of new and important information. The 2026-27 Family Handbook is your go-to resource for everything San Juan Unified School District has to offer, including important details about district programs, student services, a full school directory and more.
Review the 2026-27 Family Handbook and download a copy at sanjuan.edu/handbook. The Family Handbook is available in English, Spanish, Arabic, Pashto, Russian and Persian.
E-Transportation Safety
Electric bikes (e-bikes), scooters, mopeds and dirt bikes are becoming increasingly popular among students in our community. While these forms of transportation offer convenience and independence, they also come with important responsibilities.
San Juan Unified encourages families to review and discuss the rules of the road and the laws that apply to these devices. Understanding how to safely operate them helps prevent accidents and ensures students travel safely to and from school.
To support student safety, the Board of Education approved updates to Board Policy 5142 on June 23, 2026. The following guidelines apply on all school campuses:
Helmets are required for all riders
E-motos are not allowed on any campus
Elementary, K–8 and middle schools: Only Class 1 e-bikes are permitted
Many electric devices are not designed for or legally permitted for students under age 16. Under California law, higher-speed or motorized devices may require specific age limits, licensing and safety equipment.
