Attendance & On-time Arrival Reminder
Attendance & On-Time Arrival Reminder
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Regular attendance and timely arrival are key components of your student’s academic success. To support a smooth school day, please review our attendance guidelines:
Absences: Please notify the school promptly if your student will be absent. For an absence to be excused, CGHS requires official documentation (e.g., a doctor’s note or medical excuse) be submitted upon their return.
Tardiness & Car Riders: Morning traffic can be unpredictable. Please plan for potential delays so your student arrives with enough time to reach class before the bell rings. Unexcused tardiness, including late arrivals due to car rider drop-offs, disrupts morning instruction and accumulates toward disciplinary consequences.
AWOLs (Unexcused Absence / Leaving Campus): Leaving campus without proper authorization or skipping scheduled classes is classified as an AWOL status. This impacts student safety and academic progress and results in administrative action.
Thank you for partnering with us to ensure your student arrives on time and is ready to learn every day!
Vacation Planner - Plan Ahead for A Successful Year
Plan Ahead for A Successful Year!
Every day matters! Regular attendance plays a vital role in student success. Being in class helps students stay engaged, build meaningful relationships with teachers and classmates and take advantage of every learning opportunity.
To help families plan ahead, we've created our 2026-2027 vacation planner, highlighting long weekends and school breaks. We encourage families to schedule vacations, appointments, and other activities during this dedicated time to help minimize missed instructional time.
Thank you for partnering with us to make attendance a priority.
Every Knight. Every Day. Whatever It Takes!
CGHS Tardy Policy
We want to emphasize that punctuality is key to student success. Arriving to class on time protects valuable instructional time, minimizes distractions, and helps build habits that prepare our students for long-term success. To promote a safe, focused, and efficient learning environment, our Tardy Protocol will officially go into effect on Monday, August 17th.
Tardy Protocol Highlights
- Prompt Arrival: Students are expected to be inside their designated classroom before the tardy bell rings.
- Tardy Entry: Students arriving to class after the bell rings will be marked tardy by their teachers.
- Progressive Consequences: Accumulating unexcused tardies will result in progressive steps, including parent contact, detention, and administrative interventions.
Please review the full tardy protocol below. Administrator discretion means but not limited to ISS (in school suspension), parent conference, and/or parking privileges. Students who fail to serve their assigned intervention will receive an additional consequence for failing to serve an administrative consequence.
Thank you for partnering with us to ensure our students arrive ready to learn every single period. Let's make this our best school year yet!
Every Knight, Every Day, Whatever It Takes!

Knightly tips
Is your teen sharing too much on social media?
Teens often don't care who is looking at their social media posts, as long as their posts are getting liked. But data miners, identity thieves and other predators look online for information they can use. Ask to see your teen's social media profiles, privacy settings and posts. If your teen has been sharing personal information or inappropriate photos, discuss the consequences of letting them fall into the wrong hands.
