Picture Day Changes

Because of limited space and the schedule changes that it requires, we will only have one picture day this year and one opportunity for make-ups. On Tuesday, October 20th, students will take their class picture and their individual picture(s). For the spring make-up day (date to be determined) students who were absent and new students to Pattie will have a chance to get their individual picture taken.

School Counseling Classroom Lesson: Bullying Prevention

Beginning October 5th, and continuing throughout the month, school counselors will be delivering a classroom lesson on bullying prevention using the Character Strong bullying prevention curriculum. This resource provides students with engaging, age-appropriate instruction that promotes a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment.

During this lesson, students will learn how to recognize bullying behavior, understand the impact bullying can have on others, practice strategies for responding safely and respectfully, and identify trusted adults who can help when concerns arise. Students will also explore ways they can contribute to a positive school culture by showing empathy, kindness, and respect.

If you have questions about this lesson or would like additional information, please contact one of our school counselors.

🎨Art with Mrs. Braxton

We’ve had a colorful start to the school year! Pre-K has been working on strengthening their fine motor skills, especially their pincer grasp. Kindergarten showed off their scissor skills by making colorful crayons full of personality! First grade mixed primary colors to make secondary colors. Second grade explored warm/cool colors as well as positive/negative space. Third grade made lava lamps from tertiary color paintings. Fourth graders are making realistic paintings with a focus on the tertiary color wheel made with only the primary colors. Fifth grade is exploring blending colors and self-expression in their graffiti style names.

⚽PE with Mrs. Braxton & Mr. Gilbert

Special thanks to the many wonderful volunteers and the PTCO for their support with Field Day on Sept. 30. The students had a fantastic time.

In the weeks after field day, our students will be doing fitness testing (3rd-5th) and continuing to work on basic skills and procedures (PK-2nd). Wearing the correct shoes is incredibly important! All students should wear sneakers on PE day. Crocs, boots, slippers, flip flops, rain boots, etc. are not appropriate for PE and pose a significant injury risk. PE always comes after Tech and Music, so it's pretty easy to remember!

Students are off to a great start in Tech Talk. Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade are reviewing and practicing iPad care and use. Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th are working on their "All About Me" presentation. This activity helps build public speaking, such as poise, voice, and eye contact.

Principal's Advisory Council Meeting and PTCO Meeting - Tuesday, October 13th

The Principal's Advisory Council is open to all families and staff, and it is an opportunity for shared decision making. It is also an opportunity to gain insight into, and ask questions about Pattie's processes, procedures, instruction, and building operations. Each meeting will focus on a particular topic of interest, but will also provide opportunities for open dialogue. Our meeting times are now 5:30pm to help parent participation, and it will immediately be followed by our PTCO meeting at 6:30pm.

This month’s PTCO meeting will focus on preparing for Family Book Fair Night and our fall fundraiser Color Run.

Both meetings will take place in Pattie's library, and both have virtual options, as well.
