Laker Families:

We are excited to introduce our new monthly school newsletter, designed to strengthen the connection between home and school while keeping you informed about the wonderful things happening at HLWW Middle School. This newsletter will be sent out on the third Wednesday of each month and will serve as a consistent way for us to share updates, celebrate successes, and highlight opportunities for family involvement.

As part of our District’s Strategic Plan, we are committed to building strong partnerships with families to support student learning and growth. We know that when schools and families work together, students thrive. Our newsletter will provide information on upcoming events, important reminders, and ways you can engage with and support our school community. We will also share stories that spotlight the achievements of our students and staff, as well as resources to help families stay connected to our mission and goals.

In addition to the Grade Specific Information links below, there will be articles highlighting an activity from each grade level. Look for those articles starting in October's newsletter!

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to using this newsletter to create opportunities for all students and families to build relationships, collaboration and empowerment.

Sincerely,

Jim Schimelpfenig

Middle School Principal

Counselor's Corner Counselor's Corner

By Andraya Parenteau, Middle School Counselor

Advisors have been busy these first few weeks of school, building connections with the students and reviewing the HLWW Middle School Student Handbook. We also teaching students how to access more support at school by scheduling an appointment to see the school counselor, Ms. Parenteau, and how to use the Student Report Form found in Clever if there is something that happens without an adult present that needs to be reported. We will finish out September focusing on digital citizenship and how students can create healthy habits and keep their information private while using devices. Our lessons on digital citizenship are created by Common Sense Media, which offers great resources for parents and educators on helping young people navigate technology and media in our ever-changing world. In October, advisory lessons will be centered around how being aware of yourself and those around you can help build strong connections and friendships.
