Every Tiger. Every Day. Every Minute Matters!
MAP Testing Begins Tomorrow
Dear Fairfax Families,
Tomorrow, we will begin MAP testing in grades 4-5 after our protected Tiger Literacy Time (other grades will take place later in the month). We want our families to know what MAP Growth is and how it helps us support your child’s learning.
What is MAP Growth?
MAP Growth measures what students know right now and how much they grow over time. The assessment adjusts to each student’s answers, helping us identify the level of work that is “just right” for each student.
MAP Growth does not measure whether a student has mastered every grade-level standard. Instead, it helps teachers identify students’ strengths and areas for growth so we can better target instruction and support.
MAP Growth also provides a projection of how students are expected to perform on the Spring Ohio State Test. This information is one of several data points our teachers use to monitor student progress and plan instruction.
For more information about MAP Growth, families can explore the NWEA Family Toolkit, available in both English and Spanish, with videos, guides, and resources explaining MAP Growth and how it supports student learning.
