English and Theatre Students Share Talents
Ms. Prendergast's classes have all been busy as the end of the school year nears.
Seniors in Honors English class wrote Teacher to Remember essays. They were judged by the retired teachers group (SARSPA). Pictured above are first place winner: Carter Stickland, 2nd place Elliot Hortness, and Izzy Metz and Cristal Lopez who tied for 3rd.
Below are photo of seniors hard at work on the project "Post Mortem of a Protagonist" for characters from the play Pygmalion. Students take their knowledge of a character and through art, demonstrate all they know about them based on their actions, descriptions, and relationships with others.
Finally, Drama students had fun learning about IMPROV in a workshop with the actors from Missoula Children's Theatre who are working with students this week to prepare the show Cinderella. The play will be performed at the PAC on Friday, May 1st at 7:00pm.
Surprises Inside!
Continuing their disections this week, biology students took a look inside some frogs on Wednesday. Mary and Everleigh had a special surprise when they opened their frog up--eggs! This was a first even for vetern dissector Ms. Chan!
SHS Knowledge Bowl Tournament
The Knowledge Bowl team and Coach Nordquist hosted the 2nd annual intraschool knowledge bowl tournament this week. Thirteen teams, including two teams of teachers, competed in a single-elimination bracket to showcase their knowledge of literature, language, science, math, music, sports, and pop culture. All SHS students were invited to watch and enjoy the fun of competition. The "Ed's Fellas" team of Kayden, Mason, Reggie, Kester, Edem, and Vincent were crowned champions after a close final game against Team Dana.
The Sisseton FFA chapter received a donation from Wheaton Dumont Co-Op Elevator/AGP towards their FFA program and events. Members from the local and corporate offices presented the check to FFA members on Tuesday.
