Rocket Report
Reidville Elementary School-----August 10, 2025
Message from Dr. Rose
Parents-
It is with a heart full of excitement (and maybe a sprinkle of pixie dust) that I welcome you to your first year or, for many of you, another magical year at Reidville Elementary—The Happiest School on Earth!
Just like any great Disney adventure, this year will be filled with wonder, growth, and a few “Hakuna Matata” moments along the way. We’ve polished our glass slippers, dusted off the magic carpets, and made sure every castle corridor (or in our case, hallway) is ready for our amazing students.
Thank you for sharing your most precious treasures—your student—with us. We consider it an honor and a joy to be part of their story. Whether they’re just beginning their journey in 4 or 5 year old kindergarten or heading into their final elementary year, we are here to help them dream big, work hard, and believe in the magic within themselves.
At Reidville, our “open door” policy is not just a phrase—it’s a promise. Think of it as the drawbridge to our castle being lowered for you at all times. If you have questions, concerns, ideas, or just want to share a magical moment, our doors (and our hearts) and our emails are always open. Our administration team, including our inspiring assistant principals Mrs. Sauls and Mr. Towery, are always here to help you and your student. We believe that strong partnerships between home and school create the happiest endings—and the happiest beginnings, too.
Here’s to a year filled with curiosity, laughter, learning, and a little bit of Disney sparkle in every day. Together, we will make sure our students know that, in the words of Walt Disney himself, “If you can dream it, you can do it.”
Serving Proudly in Education,
Meredith Rose
Principal
HAPPIEST SCHOOL ON EARTH
Each school year, our outgoing 5th grade Student Advisory team along with our staff, selects a theme for the school year. At Reidville Elementary, we believe that school should be a place where students feel safe, valued, and inspired to dream big.
So to that point this year, we chose the theme The Happiest School on Earth because Disney captures the magic of imagination, the power of storytelling, and the joy of learning—values that align perfectly with our mission. Just as Disney parks are filled with wonder, creativity, and a sense of belonging, we want our classrooms and hallways to be places where every student feels welcomed, cared for, and excited to explore new possibilities.
Disney’s stories are more than just entertainment—they teach timeless lessons about perseverance, kindness, courage, and friendship. We see these same qualities in our students every day as they work hard to meet challenges, support their classmates, and grow both academically and personally. Like Disney characters, our students are the heroes of their own stories, and our staff is here to guide, encourage, and cheer them on every step of the way.
By adopting this theme, we aim to fill the year with moments that spark joy, encourage curiosity, and remind our school community that learning can be magical. Whether it’s through creative lessons, themed events, or simply the positive atmosphere we create together, we want each student to feel the excitement of walking into The Happiest School on Earth each morning. At Reidville Elementary, every student is a star, every classroom is a stage for growth, and every day is an opportunity to make memories that will last a lifetime because, after all, ROCKETS don't just fly, they soar!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS TO REIDVILLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

SWEET TEA IS A GREAT TREAT FOR OUR TEACHERS
EARLY DISMISSAL
For the safety and supervision of all students, any early dismissals must be completed by 1:45 PM. If your child has an appointment, please ensure they are signed out through the office before this time. After 1:45 PM, we will not be able to accommodate early dismissals. Additionally, students are not allowed to wait in the office for an early dismissal. Students will be called upon the parent arrival in the front office.
CHANGES TO TRANSPORTATION
We understand that from time to time a student’s method of transportation may need to change due to unexpected circumstances. While it is always best for these changes to be communicated in writing, we know that is not always possible. If you need to call the school to make a transportation change, please do so before 1:00 p.m. each day. This deadline is essential for the safety and security of our students, allowing us to ensure that all staff and bus drivers are informed and that students are safely sent home according to your updated instructions.
STUDENT DEVICES
Beginning this week, students will be issued their computers. To ensure that our technology is cared for and maintained, student computers will not be sent home for students in grades 2-5 until the annual technology fee has been paid. This fee helps cover necessary updates, repairs, and protective measures for the devices your student will use throughout the year. Once payment is received, your student’s computer will be sent home for schoolwork and assignments. Thank you for helping us protect these valuable learning tools for all students.
CAFETERIA
We are excited again that all breakfasts and lunches will be free for our elementary students in Spartanburg School District 5 again this year. The school district is in transition from the company Chartwells, who has managed our cafeteria for several years, to Nutrition Group. Until that transition has fully been complete, the website with the weekly menu has not been updated. The lunch menu for this upcoming week can be found below.
EATING LUNCH WITH YOUR STUDENT
We love when our parents eat lunch with their students. We just ask that for the first 2 weeks of school while we are establishing rules, routines and procedures that parents not come for lunch. Our first day for parent lunch will be Monday, August 25th.
