Seventh Street Reconfiguration and Transformation Plan

The North Little Rock Board of Education asked questions about the proposed Seventh Street Reconfiguration and Transformation Plan, following two community forums earlier in the week. Dr. Pilewski presented the board with survey results from the community about recommendations on a new name. The board did not take any action on the proposal; however, this topic is anticipated for further discussion next month.

Safety Services Department Update

Mr. Hayward Finks, the Director of Safety Services, provided the North Little Rock Board of Education with an update on the safety measures that have taken place throughout the school year. In addition, the Board approved the purchase of Opengate Weapons Detection System to conduct thorough searches upon entering every school and two-way radios to enhance safety throughout the district.

Fall Protection for Playgrounds

The Board of Education approved the incorporation of rubber fall protection on the elementary school playgrounds. Rubber fall protection is ADA compliant.

COE Staff to Get Bonus

Center of Excellence staff who were employed at the school during the 2021-2022 academic year will be getting a bonus. The bonus comes as a reward for staff following being in the Top 5% in the growth/graduation category, according to the Arkansas School Recognition Program.

The Arkansas School Recognition Program, a component of the Arkansas Department of Education, provides funds to schools for achievement in growth and performance. In all, more than 178 public schools across the state are poised to receive reward money, which can be used on faculty and staff bonuses, educational equipment and materials, or personnel to assist with improving or maintaining student performance.
