Dear Pleasant Valley Families,

I can't believe it is already October! I have great news: we're installing a new playground structure to replace our current larger playground. The new playground should be ready for our students sometime next week.

PV Fundraiser

Thank you to all of our Stars and their families for helping with our Fundraiser. Pick-up is October 26th from 4-6:00 pm at Pleasant Valley.

Veterans Day

Invitations for students in grades 2 and 4 and their families for our Veterans Day Program on Wednesday, November 11th at 10:00 am will be sent home on Monday, October 5th. All RSVP's are due back on Friday, October 16th. This event is for our students and their families in grades 2 and 4 only.

Please remember that if you hear something from your child that doesn't seem right, check with your child's teacher immediately. If safety is ever compromised, I will promptly notify all families. Creating a safe, orderly, and welcoming learning environment is crucial to educating and preparing our students to reach their full potential. Your children's safety will always be our top priority. Our dedicated staff works hard to ensure your child is welcomed and dismissed safely, whether traveling by car, bus, or walking.

We need parent/guardian volunteers for our P.E. Pumpkin Run. It is during all Physical Education classes, Oct 27th-29th. Please include this message and link in your classroom weekly/biweekly newsletters:

Our P.E. Fall Pumpkin Run is coming soon, on October 27-29th! We need volunteers to help hole-punch and count the students' laps during the pumpkin run in ALL P.E. classes! Please click here for more details and sign up for the slots you can help with.

If your family will be traveling for 2+ weeks, please reach out to the office as soon as possible so that we are able to discuss long term absence options with you.

If your child is sent home by the school clinic you must still call the office the next day to report their absence.

The Pleasant Valley PTA is off to a wonderful start this year! Thank you to everyone who has joined and supported us so far.

Smencils will be on sale October 6th–8th from 8:55–9:15 a.m. in the Upper Gym before school. They will be $1 each, and pre-order forms will be coming home soon.

Mark your calendars for our amazing Trunk-or-Treat on October 23rd! Please RSVP and consider signing up to decorate a trunk. Flyers with more details will be sent home soon.

We are collecting candy bag donations for our PTA Trunk or Treat evening event. Please send in a bag or two of candy!

Below is some info about Success Center and other Parma-Powers Branch programs in September.

Student Success Center opens next Wednesday, September 9th

Student Success Centers - Cuyahoga County Public Library

Students who participate can receive homework assistance and/or academic enrichment from our center’s staff in the following subjects: English language arts, math, reading, science and social studies.

Register once for the school year. Drop-in, no appointment needed.

If a generous family would like their child to pass out a birthday treat, we recommend a non-edible one that can be passed out and sent home at the end of the day.

If you DO NOT want your child to receive a birthday treat from a classmate, please let their teacher know.

Gifts for students may not be delivered to the school. Balloon deliveries, gift baskets, flowers, etc. disrupt the educational process for all students. Birthday parties during the school day can not be accommodated.

Please check with the classroom teacher before sending any birthday or other treats to school for the class.

Some of our children have food allergies; therefore, all treats must be ready to pass out to the class, store-bought, labeled with ingredients, and individually wrapped.

Store-bought cupcakes in a sealed container with an ingredient label are also acceptable.

Distributing invitations to non-school activities such as birthday parties is prohibited unless all students of at least one gender in the class are invited.
