FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Stallion Families,
It’s been another fantastic week at Cherokee Trail!
Our 6th graders are currently away at Outdoor Education in Sedalia, and I can’t wait to hear all about their adventures and hands-on learning when they return. Don't worry, 5th-grade families, your students will get their turn to experience Outdoor Ed this coming April before they make the big move to Sierra next year!
Meanwhile, back at school, our big Fun Run Fundraiser is officially off and "running!" Word on the street is that if we hit our classroom fundraising goals, I’ll be getting slimed by the students. If (and when!) that happens, I promise to share plenty of pictures.
Finally, I hope you’ll join us for our first Stallion Family Voices meeting (formerly SAC) on Wednesday, September 23rd, from 3:45 to 4:45 PM. This is a wonderful way to stay connected with everything happening at Cherokee Trail and across the district. Our main topics for this first meeting include:
Stallion Family Voices Membership
CTE Enrollment & Budget Updates
Mill Levy Override (MLO) Factual Presentation
If you’re interested in serving on the committee or have specific items you’d like added to the agenda, please feel free to reach out to me at jlderose@dcsdk12.org.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Have a wonderful weekend!
Warmly, Jodee DeRose, Principal

STALLION FAMILY VOICES (formerly SAC) will be having their first meeting of the year on Wednesday, September 23rd. Please see the AGENDA.
BE EPICER @ CTE
ENTHUSIASM * PERSEVERANCE * INTEGRITY * COURAGE * EMPATHY * RESPECT
Read more on the EPICER page!
In September we will be focusing on the EPICER trait of ENTHUSIASM! These are the indicators:
* I show a positive attitude at all times
* I am eager to learn
* I show active engagement throughout my day
We’re excited to share some changes to our EPICER program this year! Practicing the EPICER traits help our students grow into kind, responsible, and caring members of our school and community.
This year, we’re connecting EPICER more closely to our Stallion spirit! Students will receive Stallion Tickets when they are caught demonstrating one of the EPICER traits. Each week, tickets will be randomly drawn to recognize students who are demonstrating positive character traits.
Each month, students will focus on a different EPICER trait through lessons and activities. Classroom teachers will also choose one student who exemplifies that month’s trait. These students will receive a special Student of the Month certificate, and their picture will be featured on the TV in our school lobby so our whole school community can celebrate them!
We’re excited to celebrate our Stallions not only for what they learn, but also for who they are and how they treat others!
