ALERT: Overdue Library Books

You are going to start receiving a deluge of emails about overdue library books that your children have. PLEASE DO NOT OVERLOOK THESE EMAILS! It is critical that all overdue books are returned immediately. Students are responsible for books that are lost. Fees for lost books are included in the email. Lost book fees can be paid by cash or check (made out to Talley) and given to Mrs. Long in the library. Please contact Ashley Long (along@csdecatur.net) with any questions.

Library Fundraiser (April 16-24)

Please help support Talley’s library and the True Book Fair!

At the True Book Fair on May 11 and 12, every Talley student will take home two new books for free.

But the True Book Fair affects the Talley library's bottom line in two ways: 1) we need to purchase all the great books for our True Book Fair, and 2) we miss out on the funds that would be raised at a traditional book fair. If you would normally buy books at a traditional book fair, please consider donating to our fundraiser instead!

Where your money goes:

$3: One book for the True Book Fair

$15: One spool of 3D printing filament

$25: One library-bound graphic novel

$75: One year's supply of cardstock

$300: One year's supply of consumable makerspace supplies

$2000: A one-year subscription to Beanstack for our school

All funds raised will go directly to Talley's library. Thank you for your donation!

Career Day (May 6)

Talley will host Career Day on Wednesday, May 6, from 7:50 am to 9:45 am. If you or someone you know would like to volunteer to teach our students about your career, then please SIGN UP HERE. The signup also has more information on what the day will look like and what your presentations could include. We will try to organize the program so that each volunteer will speak to their child's class, although we can't guarantee this.

Questions? Reach out to your school counselors Alan Pendrick (alan.pendrick@csdecatur.net) or Kimberly Weaver (kiweaver@csdecatur.net). Thank you!

Earth Day...and More!

April was a busy month for the Talley Green Team. Activities included collecting plastic bottles for LiveThrive's Plastic Bottle Contest (winners to be announced this coming Saturday at Kids Day); participating at the Decatur Earth Day Festival at Legacy Park; overseeing our monthly plastic film collection for house points; and meeting with members of the Decatur Environmental Sustainability Board, from whom we learned about the city's new curbside composting program and who led us in "Environmental Jeopardy!" NOTE: Earth Day BINGO boards (and any items collected) are due to Mrs. Roberts on April 30.

Plastic Film Collection

Thank you to everyone who brought in plastic film this week! We collected an estimated 150 pounds and have surpassed more than 1,000 pounds for the year. Our house point winners were Isibindi (First Place), Reveur (Second Place) and Altruismo (Third Place). Our final collection for house points will be THURSDAY, MAY 7. (Please note the change from Wednesday to Thursday.)

We also thank everyone who signed up for Ridwell's home and mail-in service. We have reached our 10-member goal and have earned free plastic film pickup for the 2026-2027 school year. Thank you for your support!

Kids Ages 5-13 Invited to Register for Decatur WatchFest 26 3v3 Soccer Tournament

Decatur Soccer invites youth ages 5-13 (rising K-8th grade) to register for its 3v3 Soccer Tournament, powered by Decatur WatchFest 26, a fun, flexible, and community-focused event led by DHS soccer players and coaches. Join us Saturday, June 20, 8:30-noon at the Decatur High School Stadium with plenty of parking and just a short walk from the Decatur MARTA Station and Decatur WatchFest.

Kids can form a team of up to five players and sign up at the link below for just $75 per team (payable separately via GoFan). With no uniforms required (pennies provided) and small-sided 3v3 match play run by our DHS players, this format keeps things simple while maximizing touches, engagement, and fun for every player.

The tournament is open to girls, boys, and co-ed teams (co-ed teams will play in the boys bracket), with divisions based on rising school year: K-1, 2-3, 4-5, and 6-8. This is a great way to celebrate Decatur WatchFest and FIFA World Cup 26™ while supporting the Decatur Soccer program, and giving your child a fun soccer experience without a big time commitment. Just gather a group, register here, and show up ready to play!
