Grade 5 (23-24)
Staff Spotlight - Ms. Armitage
Hello! My name is Kelsie Armitage and I currently teach Grade ⅚ at Killam Public School. This is my eighth year at KPS.
When I am not teaching, I like to spend my time travelling or working on various farm related projects around my house! I raise chickens with my husband Cam and this is something I really enjoy. I finished a Master of Arts degree in 2024 and since then I have had a lot more free time to spend with my chickens, and to do other things I enjoy such as gardening and travelling. I am currently taking pottery classes and French classes to try to learn some new skills! I have planned a solo trip to Montreal and Quebec city in March to try to force myself to speak French a bit more - we will see how that goes!
I love teaching in a small school like KPS where people can really get to know each other and learn together. I also like challenging students to learn new skills - such as hatching chicks, knitting, planting and gardening, and whatever else comes our way!
Attendance Information
DID YOU KNOW....
- Students should miss no more than 9 days of school each year to stay engaged, successful and on track to graduation.
- Frequent absences can be a sign that a student is losing interest in school, struggling with school work, dealing with a bully or facing some other difficulty.
- By 6th grade, absenteeism is one of three signs that a student may drop out of high school.
- By 9th grade, attendance is a better predictor of graduation rates than 8th grade test scores.
- Missing 10% or 2 days a month, over the course of the school year, can affect a student's academic success.

Feedback from this survey is used to support improvements in the education system. Staff use the data from this survey to review the impact of the instruction at KPS and support future planning. This survey provides a wealth of information from parents, students and teachers. Please take the time to complete your survey. We appreciate your support.
If you require a new Random Access Code, please contact the school.
