SEEKING COMMUNITY INPUT: Jewish American Heritage Month Proclamation
As we prepare to recognize Jewish American Heritage Month in May, we are beginning the process of developing a district proclamation that honors the history, contributions, and experiences of Jewish Americans.
To ensure this proclamation is thoughtful and reflective, we are seeking a small group of individuals who identify as Jewish—including staff, students, and parents/caregivers—who would be willing to partner with us in reviewing a draft and offering feedback. Community partners, including local faith leaders, may also be invited to contribute their perspectives.
If you are interested in participating in this brief review process or would like to recommend someone who may be interested, please reach out to Dr. Michael Morgan (mdmorga@sunprairieschools.org), Briana Kurlinkus (bmkurli@sunprairieschools.org) or Carolyn Pao (cmpao@sunprairieschools.org) in the Department of Systemic Equity and Inclusion via email. Our goal is to work collaboratively to develop a meaningful proclamation that can be adopted by the Board of Education prior to Jewish American Heritage Month in May.
Thank you for helping us honor and uplift the richness of Jewish heritage within our community.
Donations Needed - Menstrual Products
Menstrual Product Donation Drive
We are currently collecting donations of menstrual products (tampons and pads) to stock our classrooms/dens and make them more accessible for students. Having supplies available in these spaces helps reduce disruptions to learning and ensures students don’t have to leave class to visit the Health Office or Student Services if they are in need.
If you are able to contribute in any way, we greatly appreciate your support in helping us create a more comfortable and inclusive environment for all students. Donations can be sent to the main office at any time.
Military Service Academy Information Session
Students interested in attending a military service academy after high school are invited to attend an informational session on Saturday, May 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the downtown Madison Public Library. U.S. Service Academy representatives will be available at this time to meet individually with students. More information can be found at this website.

ACT & PreACT Secure
A big thank you to all of our students and staff for making the March 10th ACT testing day a success for our 11th grade students! We are grateful for the effort, preparation, and focus shown by everyone involved. At this point, testing has been completed and results are being processed, and students have begun receiving mailed copies of their score reports.
Reports are mailed directly to students and are also available electronically through each student’s MyACT account. Students created MyACT accounts during pre-registration (completed in early March) using personal email addresses, which ensures continued access to their accounts beyond graduation. You may find the following resources to be helpful as you review your report.

Understanding Your Scores (act.org)
We appreciate the effort and focus shown by our students and staff in making the April 7th PreACT Secure testing day a success for our 9th & 10th grade students! Your preparation and care helped ensure a smooth testing experience for all.
Once all testing is complete, results will be processed. Given the state-directed timeline, students and families will receive mailed score reports in June.

Drama Club
On Sunday, April 12th, students from Sun Prairie West and East drama clubs attended a production of “The Angel Next Door” at Northlight Theatre in Skokie, IL. They had the opportunity to stay for a talkback with the cast, crew, and the artistic director, BJ Jones. We also had the opportunity to take a group picture with the cast on the stage. 🚩 In Case You Missed It
🚗 Arrival & Dismissal Safety Reminders
Keeping our students safe is our top priority. Please review these important procedures carefully:
🔁 Drop Off & Pick Up Lane
ALL parents/caregivers must use the designated drop off/pick up lane located on the outside of the student parking lot.
Using other areas to avoid the line creates serious safety concerns. Please allow extra time in the morning and afternoon so you are not rushed.
🚫 Do NOT drop off in:
-
The bus lane
-
The student parking lot
We will be monitoring these areas closely.
🚌 Bus Lane & Student Parking = No Parent Drop Off
Over the past two years, families have used the bus lane and student lot to bypass the drop off line.
⚠️ This creates SIGNIFICANT safety risks for students and staff.
Please help us keep everyone safe by using only the designated lane.
♿ Respect Disabled Parking — 24/7
Accessible parking spaces are reserved for individuals with disabilities at all times.
🚫 Do NOT:
-
Park in disabled spaces without authorization
-
Block these spaces while waiting
These actions prevent students and families with disabilities from safely arriving and leaving.
🎫 Ticketing will be enforced.
🅿️ Student Parking Requirements
Students must:
-
Have a current student parking registration
-
Park ONLY in the designated student lot
Students parked in:
-
Staff lots (front of building)
-
Athletic side lots
-
Visitor or staff spaces
will be ticketed.
🚒 Fire Lane — Emergency Use Only
The fire lane behind the school is NOT a shortcut.
🚫 No driving around the building through the fire lane.
📅 Beginning August 26 - Gates will be closed on school days from 7:00am–4:00pm.
🔄 West Side Circle Drive
The circle drive on the west side of the building is RESERVED for specialized transportation only.
When other vehicles use this space for drop off or pick up, it creates a significant safety hazard for students with disabilities who rely on specialized transportation.
Please respect this reserved area.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school community safe and accessible for everyone!

Event Guideliness
Please review the SPASD event guidelines. Our athletes are ready to take the field, stage, pool, court, pitch, course and so much more this school year. Together we will continue to make these fantastic, safe and enjoyable events for all.
All West students will need their student ID or if they have not yet received their 25/26 student ID, they will need to look up their Infinite Campus profile. This can be done in advance and screenshotted for quick access.
Building Hours
- Building opens at 8:05: Students may enter the building at 8:05 and will remain in the commons 8:20. Between 8:05-8:20 students may eat breakfast and socialize in the commons. At 8:20 students may begin to move to their classes.
- If your transportation situation makes it impossible to drop off your students later than 8:05 they will be allowed to stand in the vestibule (between the glass doors) until 8:05, particularly on inclement weather days
- Building Closes at 4:00: At 4:00pm the building closes daily. All students must be with an adult (coach, club/activity, 5th hour tutoring, etc) or leave the building for safety as we do not have supervision available after 4:00pm.
