Ms. Corron's Corner
Dear Miscoe Families,
Welcome to November - a fast-paced, event-filled month anchored in gratitude! Our 5th graders recently had a fantastic three days at Outdoor Classroom! Students had the opportunity to unplug from technology and reconnect with nature, spending their time hiking, exploring the outdoors, taking on group challenges, and enjoying hands-on learning and discovery. One of the most rewarding parts of the experience was seeing our students demonstrate such independence, responsibility, and teamwork. From organizing their belongings to setting tables, serving meals, clearing dishes, and keeping shared spaces clean, they took great pride in contributing to their community. They embraced new routines, tried new foods, and navigated shared living with flexibility. Without screens to fill every quiet moment, students turned to their imaginations, games, nature, and simple conversation to connect with one another. In just three days, we saw tremendous growth in their confidence, resilience, and spirit of cooperation. What an unforgettable adventure!
A very special thank you to our incredible 5th grade team for making this experience possible for our students! The time, thought, planning, and dedication that go into an event like this do not go unnoticed. Thank you for creating an opportunity for our students to step outside their comfort zones, build independence, strengthen friendships, and make memories that will last a lifetime.
We also extend a huge thank you to the Miscoe Hill Student Council for hosting a successful 7th & 8th grade Volloween event - the energy, enthusiasm, and team spirit made this annual tradition memorable and fun! Thank you to StuCo, their advisors Mrs. McCourt and Miss Rhodes, and the faculty members who attended to help out and play against the winning team.
As we move into the month ahead, we want to reaffirm one of our primary shared goals: creating a school environment where every student feels safe, respected, and supported throughout the entire day. While much of our focus is on classroom learning, it is equally important that students understand and meet expectations in all areas of our school -including the cafeteria, hallways, bathrooms, and playground.
We are actively working with students to reinforce foundational habits: treating others with kindness and respect, using appropriate language, keeping hands and feet to themselves, following adult directions, and respecting shared spaces. This includes taking responsibility for cleaning up after meals, using facilities appropriately, moving mindfully through hallways, and demonstrating good sportsmanship during recess. These expectations apply everywhere on our school grounds, not just during instructional time.
We ask families to partner with us by continuing these conversations at home and reinforcing what it means to be a kind, respectful, and positive community member. Our goal is to address concerns early, help students understand the impact of their choices, and provide guidance as they practice positive decision-making.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. When school and home work together with consistent expectations, we build a community where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued.
With gratitude,
Ms. Corron
