Our 8th graders also got to visit BCHS for their homecoming parade. They represented GP well, and we loved seeing them show their Firebird pride!

Today our teachers spent early release time learning and growing together. We are always looking for ways to get better and find new ways to support our students. Learning never stops at GP!

A big thank-you to ACTS (Anthem Cares Through Service) for purchasing nearly $200 worth of items for our health office. We appreciate their generosity and the support they continue to show our school community. We are lucky to have partners who care about our Firebirds!

We love that our students have things that bring them comfort and joy! Recently, we’ve noticed an increase in squishy toys, stuffed animals, and other toys being brought to school. To help our students stay focused and make the most of their learning time, we ask that all toys and stuffed animals stay at home.

We understand that some students benefit from having a fidget to help them focus. If you feel your child would benefit from one, please reach out to your child’s teacher so we can work together to determine what would be most helpful. Any approved classroom fidget should be small enough to fit in the palm of the student’s hand.

As always, we will continue to honor and follow all IEP and 504 plans to ensure students receive the support they need.

🎃 October 30 is going to be a festive day at GP!

We’ll kick off the morning at 8:30 AM with our Character Parade, and we know lots of parents and families will want to come watch their littles show off their cute costumes!

To help things run smoothly, we’ve created a pre-registration link for campus visitors. Please take a minute to pre-register from your phone before you arrive. This will help us avoid long lines and crowds in the Front Office that morning.

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new Middle School Esports Club for 6th through 8th graders! Esports offers a fantastic opportunity for students to build teamwork, strategic thinking, communication, and digital sportsmanship in a supportive, structured environment.

To get our inaugural season off the ground, we need your help! The club is currently seeking a donation of an original Nintendo Switch console (with its dock and power cables) as well as additional controllers (Joy-Cons or Pro Controllers) so our players have enough gear to practice and compete.

If you have an original Nintendo Switch or spare controllers in good working condition that you would be willing to donate, please contact Mrs. Porcelli at Kari.porcelli@dvusd.org or Justin Coleman at Justin.Coleman@dvusd.org.

Whether you're joining the Gavilan Peak family for the first time or returning for another great year, we're so excited to partner with you! Our volunteers make a tremendous difference, and together we can ensure that every moment matters for our students.

To help us provide a safe and supportive learning environment, all volunteers, both new and returning must complete the volunteer registration process for the 2026–2027 school year.

Please note that this is a two-step process. After completing the initial registration form, be sure to complete the required testimony step to finalize your volunteer approval.

Gavilan Peak School is hosting its annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest on October 30th Firebirds! Whether you want to make your pumpkin scary, silly, or completely out-of-this-world, it’s time to grab your paint, glitter, and carving tools. Show off your artistic skills, win fun prizes, and help us turn the school into the coolest pumpkin patch around!

All volunteers must be DVUSD Volunteer Trained. If you completed your training in a previous school year, you must complete the annual renewal in order to come on campus this year.

PTO is looking for classroom liaisons to help support our teachers and connect families with their child’s classroom community!

We are currently looking for liaisons for all grade levels except 4th and 6th grade. We would especially love to have families who are already registered school volunteers consider taking on this role.

If you enjoy getting involved, helping other families, and being part of your child’s school experience, we’d love to have you join us! Your time and support can make a wonderful difference for our teachers, students, and families throughout the school year. 💙
