At our Friday Community Gathering, we discussed the commitment: "I use listening ears."

To practice this skill, we learned the first part of the H.E.A.R. strategy. The "H" reminds us to Halt—to stop what we are doing body and mind, be present, and give our full attention to the speaker.

  • Josiah is working so hard wat school; he didn't give up and kept on working until he got the answer!
  • Brayden is a leader in his class; he does what he knows is the right thing to do even when other kids aren't. He consistently shows his classmates what a good listener looks like when I teach a lesson in his class.
  • Ian saw a student walking into car pool by herself so he went to her and held her hand to walk her safely inside the building.
  • Cameron continually encouraged another student in her class when he was feeling frustrated.

Parent Conference Day Parent Conference Day

On October 13, St. Mary's County Public Schools (SMCPS) has allotted a two-hour block for parent conferences. While we would love to meet with all of you, this time frame does not allow for every student's family to have a conference.

To ensure we are able to provide the most support, teachers will prioritize reaching out to parents of students who may be experiencing academic, social, or behavioral challenges. If your student is making adequate progress, you may not receive a request for a conference.

If you do not hear from your child’s teacher and would still like to schedule a conference, please feel free to reach out to them directly.

Thank you for your understanding and continued partnership in your child's education.

Veterans Day Brunch

Our Veterans Day Celebration at MES is approaching fast and we would love your help in gathering items to help make the Veterans feel appreciated! We usually have 70+ Veterans in attendance, along with their spouse/student/grandchild- which makes this a celebration of around 150 guests! This year at MES, we are celebrating the Veterans with Brunch! This will take place on Friday, November 7th from 10-11:30am.  Non-perishable items can be dropped off at the front office or brought in by your child. Please label these items with "Veterans Day." Perishable items can be dropped off at the school on the day of the celebration, between 8:30-9:30am.  If you need to arrange someone to pick-up items or meet to pick-up, please email us at MechanicsvilleESPTO@gmail.com.  Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up.
