Homecoming 2025
A look back at a spirited homecoming week, Sept. 22-26, at Red Wing Public Schools.
Flight Path 2030
Teachers awarded A.I. learning opportunities
The Flight Path 2030 team would like to recognize English Language Learner teacher Bethany Jasin for receiving a fellowship from the Mark Cuban Foundation for the 2025-26 school year. The Mark Cuban Foundation Teacher Fellowship is a yearlong professional development program designed to empower high school educators — regardless of subject area — to learn about artificial intelligence, thoughtfully introduce it into their teaching, and serve as a teacher leader in their district.
We would also like to recognize the following RWPS educators for being accepted into the Mark Cuban Foundation Bootcamp this fall: Jill Rivard, Hiawatha Valley Adult Basic Education; Chris Burawa, English language arts; Bill Emery, industrial technology; Lisa Hanson, health; Cindy Hougo, science; Stacy Schultz, special education; and Janean Robert, science. Over the next 10 months, they will be advancing their foundational knowledge of artificial intelligence, develop practical implementation strategies, and participate in a national community of practice.

ChromeCare enrollment closes Tuesday
Students are responsible for loss and damage to their district-issued Chromebook, so families must pay for cracked or broken screens, spills, broken keys and more. There is a protection play to help with that, but enrollment is required by Sept. 30. The annual cost is $15 for one device and $30 for two of more devices. Enroll by clicking the button below.
Voluntary flu vaccine clinic offered
Goodhue County Health & Human Services will offer student flu vaccination clinics through Homeland Health Oct. 6 and 7 at Red Wing Public Schools. Locations and times are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 6 at Red Wing High School; 9:15-11:15 a.m. Oct. 7 at Twin Bluff Middle School; and noon to 1:45 p.m. Oct. 7 at Burnside Elementary School. If you are interested, sign your student up using the button below.
- Children and adults without health insurance may qualify to receive flu vaccination at no charge. A $20 donation per vaccine is requested, but this does not affect your ability to receive a vaccine.
- Homeland Health accepts the following insurances and will bill your health plan: Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, PrimeWest, America’s PPO, HealthPartners, South Country Health Care, Cigna Medica and United Healthcare.
- The cost for people who chose to pay privately is $45 for the standard flu shot and $50 for FluMist (if available).

Community Education & Recreation
Podcast of 'sold out' Red Wing conversation available
Minnesota Public Radio has released a podcast of the Sept. 18 live program “Freedom, Politics & Culture: A Community Conversation with David French,” held before a full house in the Sheldon Theatre that included questions from the audience. MPR journalist Kerri Miller moderated. Click on the photo to access the podcast.
French is a conservative commentator, a constitutional lawyer, former senior editor at The Dispatch and a regular opinion columnist for the New York Times. His most recent book is “Divided We Fall: America’s Secession Threat and How to Restore Our Nation.” He also is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he was awarded the Bronze Star.
This was the second event in the Philip S. Duff Jr. Lecture Series paid for by the Duff Endowment Fund and cosponsored Community Education that seeks to help local residents educate themselves on Red Wing’s – and their – role in the world. The first lecture/conversation took place a year ago with Dr. Brian Klaas, an associate professor in global politics at University College London.
