Entrepreneurs in Action! Entrepreneurs in Action!

zoom_out_map
This week, the whole school was excited to take part in our third and fourth grade entrepreneur fair. In this economics unit, students learned about supply and demand, types of resources, and thought about concepts like pricing and budgeting as they started their own mini-businesses. We hosted class visitor Kristen from Moonlight Mountain Farm, who chatted with our class about how she decides how much to invest in her business each year, how to price with other farmers, and how to run a seasonal business. Students received "investments" of $20 of classroom currency to order supplies and create their own businesses, which opened to the (K-2) "public" on Thursday. Some students marketed aggressively, while others dropped prices as the market was going on! We learned a lot about business and everyone had a wonderful time shopping and seeing all of these amazing products. Next up, this class will be researching and creating informational writing pieces about a Vermont business of their choice.

Here's just a few of the stores that opened this week:

"Desk Buddies"

"Everett's Slap Bracelets"

"Balloons on Air"

"The Origami Store"

"Beautiful Beads"

"Silly Soap"

"Believing Baskets"

"Wild Field Flowers"

Great work, grades 3 and 4!
