Pleasant Hill Family News
October 23, 2026
Dear Pleasant Hill Families,
Thank you for joining us for this week’s Scholastic Book Fair. The students thoroughly enjoyed exploring the selection of books.
We extend our sincere gratitude to our wonderful PTA volunteers. Your dedication, coordination, and support made this year’s event a tremendous success—the fair would simply not be possible without you.
The funds raised this year will directly support special guest speakers, field trips, and grade-level activities that enrich our students' school experience.
With gratitude,
Jenn
Jennifer Humphrey, Principal

Assessment Weeks have concluded
Our assessment weeks have officially wrapped up, marking the conclusion of an important milestone in this trimester. Throughout the evaluation period, the dedication and hard work of our students were fully evident each day as they focused on demonstrating their knowledge and growth.
In the coming weeks, our teachers will be thoroughly examining the assessment results. This valuable data will allow educators to gain deep insights into student progress, helping them to fine-tune instructional plans and tailor future lessons to meet the specific learning needs of every student.
Book Character Parade!
Friday, October 30th
It's nearly time for our annual school Book Character Parade!
This celebration of reading is a fun, annual event. Dressing up as your favorite book character is OPTIONAL! If students wish to dress up, they can come to school wearing their costume.
Staff and students are invited to dress as their favorite book character for the day. Even if your child doesn't wish to dress up, they'll still be able to participate in the parade, as each class will be making drawings or other small projects to represent their favorite book character.
There is no need to go out and purchase store bought costumes or create elaborate homemade ones. Simple is best!
Please ensure your child's costume is something they'll be comfortable wearing throughout the day and avoid sending your child with a costume that is:
- inflatable or
- has any accessories like weapons or masks
Thank you!

COMMUNICATING WITH US
For all communication regarding students, please contact the office via email phoffice@scarboroughschools.org or by phone 207-730-5250.
*Please include your child's teacher in the email if it is regarding a change in dismissal plans.*
Student Absence Reporting:
We ask families to report their child's absence from school by calling the main office at 207-730-5250 or by email at phoffice@scarboroughschools.org. When leaving a message, we ask that you state the reason for the absence, otherwise, office staff will reach back out to you for that information.
Excusable reasons for an absence:
- illness
- appointment
- religious holiday
- family emergency
- planned absence
For Planned Absences (a day out of school which is not illness or medical appointment related), families should fill out the PH Planned Absence Form in advance of the day your child will be absent. To reduce lost instructional time, we ask families to do their best to coordinate vacations so they line up with our scheduled school vacation weeks. We appreciate your help with this.
For questions about attendance, please contact the main office at 207-730-5250 or email us at phoffice@scarboroughschools.org
